John from Iowa

Post by Johnnyboy87 » Mon Apr 01, 2019 3:30 pm

Hey all, I’m John. First mean green machine bought Saturday night dealer was nice enough to stay open 3 hours after close for me to get there to load up. 6 hour drive there with traffic. Love the bike so far even though haven’t been able to ride more than a couple miles bad weather for it.

Welcome John! You are gonna love the bike! My brother lives in Iowa as well and says it has been a pretty ugly winter there. Glad you have some fun in your future! Be safe!

Congrats! Good on ya for finding a dealer willing to make an extra effort.

Is that dealer the one who's going to be doing the servicing as well, or do you have another Kawi dealer closer to you?

I have a local shop that is certified for service here in my town, they just couldn’t get me the bike. Put over 100 miles on her today and I have to say by far the best bike I have ever owned!

Good to hear that you don't have to ride hours for service.

Eat, sleep, ride, repeat.

I've yet to put 1 mile on my newly bought --- Congrats on purchase/decision.

I just know i'm gonna love it too. (I better, giving up my 2017 cb1100 for it) I think it's gonna be a much better tour bike and a great jack of all trades kinda bike. had a vfr1200 in past and it was a great bike too. if they still made em I would have considered one of those again -- very sweet v4 engine. However, looks to be even better engine on H2

So now I have ridden my bike for awhile, got first service done, one hell of a fiasco there. The dealership let me down a bit, had my bike for over a week because they didn’t realize my oil filter was bike specific even though I brought my bike to them before the service and had the shop manager and lead mechanic look at it so they knew what they were getting into. Very unimpressed. Love the bike not enjoying my local shop or how I was treated during the situation.

Too bad. I've had to wait for Kawi parts before, so I keep consumables on hand to avoid any delays.

I used to have a dealer that was near by, but provided lame service. Now that they've closed, I've got a dealer that's nearly 90 minutes away, but provides stellar service. I suppose I'm better off now.

I had the same experience with my local dealer, twice. The H2s all use the same oil filter but no other Kawi uses that filter. My H2 SX SE is the only H2 model my dealer has sold. They now have a spare filter on their shelf for my next visit. And yes, I know I could change the oil and filter myself; I just don't want to.
