Starting in gear is not the issue. Even with sidestand switch bypass you cannot start the bike in gear unless you pull the clutch in. It's what happens once the engine is started that changes. With the bypass the engine will not cut out if you release the clutch in gear with the sidestand down so you lose protection against riding off with sidestand down. Having spent most of my riding life without such protection, I'll that risk as an alternative to starting with sidestand up.

Ahhh, well then I am not worried about bypassing side stand then. Duh, now that I think about it, that makes sense. :bash:

So what will the cost be for this setup?

I can't really tell you that. Not being secretive but what I paid is not the real cost. This was the first system for an H2 SX SE so I did a lot of work myself with DEcosse's guidance. I made up an interface harness so I could connect the keyless controller without cutting, soldering or modifying the original wiring. Now we have that as a template, so if you wanted a system Decosse would provide everything for a plug-n-play install.

If you're interested them PM me and I'll give you DEcosse's email address.

Champ87, nice addition! I'm looking at doing a keyless setup for my H2**** when I pick it up next week. I feel similar as you share about the ease of use.

In 2009/10, as I was turbo'ing my 14, the guy who was just starting up Guard Dawg key less systems worked with me to get it into the 14 and working correctly.. It took a few weeks and some trial and errors until it was fully up and working. I liked the addition and never had any issues with it. I don't recall the cost then, but the Guard Dawg cost now seems high for a developed technology.

I left the ignition on the bike, but relocated to the left side, in a similar area as a shovel-head, and placed an openable-spring cap on it to 'hide' it appearance. Once keyless, I don't think I'd go back willingly. I'm thinking of whether it'd be useful to install a close proximity/'wave' rfid lock into the panniers. I'll wait on that for some seat time. Winter comers 3 months early here in Oregon, starting in November :) I wouldn't mind a winter from Feb 29th to March 1. My first North Dakota winter, 69, took all the snow loving out of me, except to see in photos.

If cost is your concern, then the system I used won’t provide much comfort. What my friend DEcosse charges for putting a system together is beer money but with the cost of the components it soon adds up.

I can’t really tell you much about the internals of the controller apart from the fact that DEcosse uses a commercially available RFID receiver and the circuitry includes solid state power control (early versions used external relays). The current system has matured through 8 years of development and hard work since DEcosse built his first system for his own bike.

Most “universal” systems won’t work due to security features programmed into the ECU. Guard Dawg have obviously dealt with that so one of their systems may work - with a bit of modification. To answer the question you posted in another thread – I’d say system for 2016-2018 ZX10R would be the most likely candidate. Looking at wiring diagram, the configuration looks similar to H2 SX. You’d need to check what connector is used – ZX10R ignition switch has a different part number.

If you have any specific questions about H2 SX wiring, component locations, connectors, etc. I’ll try to help. A lot will depend on the system you use. As you can see in my video clip, DEcosse’s keyless ignition has additional features like the status LED, turn signal flash, chirp module and optional accessory power supply. That obviously requires a different wiring configuration to systems that don’t use those features.

Champ87, is your friend selling the setups? Some place for more info if he is marketing them.

I'd be interested in more info about his setup.

Thank you.

Yes, he has sold many systems. He doesn't do it as a business - more of a continuing project. It started about 8 years ago with a forum post showing the system he'd built for his own Speed Triple. In response to inquiries, he built more systems for fellow Triumph owners improving and developing along the way to the point where DEcosse's system is secure, reliable and has a number of features that commercially available systems don't.

He's built systems for other makes and models too - including Kawasaki. Mine was the first H2 SX SE so we spent many hours through email and phone calls making sure that everything would work the way we wanted. Since it was the first SX SE, figuring out installation was down to me but, from the knowledge we gained, any more he makes for H2 SX will be pretty much 'plug-n-play'. That may be over-simplifying because there is work required to install. However, from my install, we know where it will fit, what connectors to mate to the OEM harness, we have a template for the auxiliary harness and a detailed installation guide.

If you're interested then PM me and I'll provide DEcosse's email address.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my friend DEcosse doesn't sell his keyless systems as a business. But he does get a constant stream of inquiries, most through the Triumph forums, and is usually willing to make one if asked.

I can't really tell you the cost. Mine was the first system for an H2 SX SE so it was a development project with me doing a lot of work myself with DEcosse's guidance. With that in mind, I'd be seriously pissed off if DEcosse sold you a system for anywhere close to what I paid. Maybe he will. :wtf:

If you're interested then PM me and I'll give you DEcosse's email address.

I ordered a month ago. I asked for its shipping to be delayed until I return in mid August.

Integrates with OEM wiring harness, no cutting.

I'll let you know how the install goes.
