Nope. $2100 to install most of the SE goodies, and bags.

Put another way, we are starting the negotiations at about $21,000 to roll a bike out the door that is an SE with bags but lacks the color LCD, quick shift and launch control. The dealer is indicating that this price is negotiable. How low he will go remains to be seen. I can always switch to an SE and see what he’s willing to do for a deal on that.

PS: just noticed that cornering lights were not included. If I want those he would charge an additional $1000. They list for $1373, so that offers a clue to how much I can bargain the $2100 add-ons down.

Dan, I would look a little harder for pricing through out USA and Canada, I picked up my end of season SE for 21K Canadian and that came with color matching bags and a 4 year warranty.

See what you can find and use that for leverage. The green will grow on you :)

Yep, it really had to grow on me. I would have rather had the blue metallic of the zzr1400 when it came out. :-(

After reading all the posts, the QS (quick-shifter) is the pivot point. I am amazed there is a retro-fit one. Both up and down? Heated grips are a game changer, when it comes to extending riding. The TFT dash (only SE) is terrific. Cornering lights , well OK.

But, I keep repeating myself, that I am repeating myself, the QS, when excellerating onto the Autobahn gives you a remarkable magic-carpet ride! I immediately skip all lanes and go for the left-most one! Everytime I do it (and believe me, I do it often!) I tell myself, it was worth it!

I don't need any vehicle connectivity stuff the SE+ has and I adjusted the suspension once and probably will do it for the next vacation again.

The SE+´s silver paint is cool, but if you get a good deal for the SE go for it. Don't do the SX alone, you'll probably regret it.

BTW, my SE is getting new street legal racing slicks (Continental Race Attack Composite Endurance) tommorow. The wheels are waiting in the denn for transportation.

It is not easy to get accurate info on what is included on which model, but no, I don't think you can retro-fit QS.

Kawasaki's web site says no cruise control on the SX, for example, but it is definitely on the 2018 I sat on in the showroom this week. And two important features for me are not mentioned in any of the online specs: the steel-reinforced brake hoses and the better seat on the SE.

Thanks to everyone for your input -- I am strongly leaning toward an SE.

I'm interested in seeing how long those last for you on the H2 SX. Sounds like a good tire.

They may put superchargers on other bikes and stop the H2. They have been keeping the production numbers very low.

I love the SE+ but along with the hefty price tag, it looks like I would be hard pressed to obtain one for much if any of this riding season. Apparently the first ordering period has expired (is this a Kawi thing; never heard of it before).

I had already decided that other than some dislike of the color, I could be happy with an SE. The dealer could get me one, but when I mentioned how I don't love the green, he showed me a 2018 SX that he has on the floor, brand new, doesn't even have fluids in it yet, and handed me a printout of parts necessary to turn it into an SE. The ones I'd want are DC power outlet, tank and knee pad sets, tall windscreen, heated grips, center stand. He added bags to the list for a retail total of about $2100.

Looking at Kawi's web site, it looks like the SX doesn't have cruise control, but this bike definitely has it. I wish I could get reliable, accurate info on this kind of stuff. Basically it looks like the only things I'd be missing compared to an SE are launch control (don't care) and quick shifter (mostly don't care). Obviously the SE+ would add electro-magic suspenders and Brembos, which would be mighty nice, but...

If this comparison is accurate, it seems like I could get a lot of bike out the door right away for around or slightly below the MSRP of an SE. Am I missing something important here? Should I wait until next year and maybe by then I could afford an SE+?

All comments appreciated.

I'm a bit late to this thread I know. I think Kawasaki have shot themselves in the foot by supplying the SE in sparkly green only. I opted for the SX because I've never been a fan of sparkly green. Next year I will get the SE + and try and remove the green from it. My current SX has some of the SE extras, 12v output, centre stand, screen which I've since replaced with a Puig. I would however love the full colour dash as the SX dash is horrendously difficult to read and even see in certain light.

You will have bought two Kawasaki H2's and you think kawasaki shot themselves in the foot? I don't know, seems like there game plan is working.

I do wish they had offered a few more colors but I bleed Kawasaki Green.

Color is pretty low on the list of what I'm looking for when buying a bike.

I think what I’m trying to say is, if the SE was available in Grey/Black, I would have bought the SE then not have bothered with the SE +. One H2

For me, how a bike looks is as important as how it performs (to a point).

Fit my SX with colour screen and heated grips it would be the perfect bike for me . . . Ok , maybe black over carbon grey!
