My mistake--I see on the website that the heated grips are an optional accessory for the SX.HouTexH2SX wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 11:50 pmI didn't know that the heated grips could be added to an SX since the switchgear is different--is your dealer talking about some aftermarket type? Also, when I bought my SE last summer when they were scarce I paid MSRP but got the bags and the 4 year extended warranty for free (and they gave me a great price for my Triumph Thruxton R trade-in). There are a lot of left over '18 SE's around the country currently being discounted $3K - $4K.danham wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 11:03 pm @Champ87,
That's good advice and I will use a very sharp pencil to make sure I'm not getting hosed. Heated grips are part of what the dealer will put on the SX for me. Keep in mind that when I said at or near the SE MSRP, that would essentially mean I'm getting the bags for free, which ain't small change.
But your post is a good reminder to make sure I don't get caught up in the SX "bargain" mindset. The dealer gave me the retail prices for all the add-ons, but said he would entertain an offer from me. Plus he didn't freak out when I mentioned a trade-in amount. We'll see.

I'm beginning to think the SE is the way to go. I really appreciate being able to tap the knowledge here.

Re: Tough choices - help!
Nope. $2100 to install most of the SE goodies, and bags.
Put another way, we are starting the negotiations at about $21,000 to roll a bike out the door that is an SE with bags but lacks the color LCD, quick shift and launch control. The dealer is indicating that this price is negotiable. How low he will go remains to be seen. I can always switch to an SE and see what he’s willing to do for a deal on that.

PS: just noticed that cornering lights were not included. If I want those he would charge an additional $1000. They list for $1373, so that offers a clue to how much I can bargain the $2100 add-ons down.

Re: Tough choices - help!
I have an SX with all the factory adds like heated grips (factory) center stand, 12v plug and bags. I could have bought either but I don't like the green enough that I cared about the couple of additional features of the SE. Yes my plain SX has the factory cruise! I of course love the color of the SX plain.

Re: Tough choices - help!
The quickshifter kit for the SX is available as an add-on where I live. See if the dealer can get you one.danham wrote: Tue Mar 05, 2019 9:52 pm Aaargh, it's getting harder. Even though you see me griping about the green, it is not a definite deal killer.
I've compared the dash displays and no question the SE is nicer. Seeing mention of the seat, is there a difference between the SX and SE seats, other than the gray color of the SE?
At any rate, I appreciate the help and advice.

Most points covered, but I'd add in that getting the sx would be a mistake. SE great bang for buck. SE+ I feel isnt as much.

For $3000 I think it is worth it. Won't be buying again and again. The bike will be a rarity as they will stop production in few years.
