Ive stayed out of these discussions but wanted to add a couple things

ive been on both ends of these discussions, first I was a consumer that was hungry for information and real data, then over the last 15 years I have become one of the businesses providing information. Like Brocks I have always done my best to make my information as accurate and as complete as possible but sometimes this is not easy and as was pointed out it takes time to make video's and post graphs and to put the information out there. Many times it adds time to the process itself. Its much quicker for me to make a baseline run, install al the parts and then start tuning. It takes a lot more time for me to test after each new part so people can see the actual gains. I also know there will be competitors talking crap about how they got more out of a change then I did. But I accept this just as part of it.

When I ask someone if they have a baseline run or numbers from other bikes on the same dyno it is not to discount there results it is because im as curious as everyone else. I know a number in a vacuum means nothing so if they don't have other information to show what actual gains were , then my curiosity ends there. I don't think there is anything wrong asking for some more info, if you don't have it or don't want to provide it then don't.

There is a real issue in the industry with inflated numbers. There is huge pressure to put out big numbers. I can not tell you how often I get contacted asking if I can guarantee a number. I try to educate but even though people say "yea I know all dyno's read different or that they aren't really chasing a peak number , its just human nature.

is its very easy to manipulate numbers, especially gains, I can show at least a 5 hp gain on most bikes without ever touching a part. Maybe now that I will have more time I will make up some video's showing this.

We spend a lot of money and time on our bikes and we want to make the most informed decision possible but unfortunately when it comes to power there is never going to be 100% clear numbers unless you are the one or you watched the person work and can be 100% sure everything was done to minimize variations and even then there are variations. stock with a flash these bikes are making 210+hp even a couple percent change is approaching 5 hp. Correction factors were built for normally aspirated vehicles and do not do a good job of evening weather changes out.

This is supposed to be fun, reality check: we are riding sport touring bikes making well in excess of 200hp!! That is insane and so awesome!!!!!!!

so in the words of Rodney King....cant we all just get along

Personally, I’m not bothered what the ‘actual’ numbers are. I’ve read the articles, I’ve seen the results. I’ve made my own decisions on the product/business/person who will be providing a service/product that I have chosen to use. I’m not a numbers bofin, I’m a biker, who loves bikes. I care more for the performance on the road/track than what it says on a piece of paper. I’ve put my trust in both Brock and David (vcycle) and will continue to use both their services in the years/bikes ahead. Thanks chaps!!

P.S. It does feel pretty cool to be able to tell people she has x HP at the wheel - it’s not like anyones going to check 😜

I'm not an expert and never claimed to be. That's why I pay to have my bike tuned. I've bought a majority of my motorcycle performance parts from you over the years. I'm sure I'll buy stuff from you in the future. Heck if I still lived in Ohio I most likely would have brought my bike to you for tuning. But I do have some issues with the way things were presented in the video. Hopefully you can set me straight. It's a few things that seem shady to me. From my perspective it seems that things that work in your favor are highlighted but things that won't sell are dismissed or ignored.

My first issue is you point out that the bike made 81hp at 12,600 rpms then after the redline increase you point out it makes "230hp in the same spot". The H2 SX has a stock redline of 12,500 rpms, so of course it hits a wall at 12,600. To me using that comparison is about the same as comparing the stock power at 13,000 rpms, which I guess would be 0hp (stock), to what the bike makes at 13,000 rpms after increasing the redline to 13,300. It doesn't seem like something that's necessary to point out. It's not that the truth is being exaggerated but more so it seems like the significance of the truth is being exaggerated.

The condition difference between the two runs is my other concern. The baseline was done in the summer in Ohio, a time known for hot temps and high humidity. The second in the winter, as time known for low temps and snow. Do you think the final results would be the same if the run was done in June? You mentioned earlier that you've spent 100s of hours making a single video for YouTube. Why not spend the 20 minutes to put the stock tune in the ECU and the 10 minutes to throw the stock muffler and air filter on the bike so that you could do a stock run vs the predator slip on and tune run on the same day?

With the redline bumped up 800rpms over stock, what happens with the power if you do 3 or 4 runs back to back?

Stock with airfilter 164whp 84ft.lbs
De-restricted + tuned 213whp 97ft.lbs
Full vandemon exhaust with tune 221whp 99ft.lbs
On Race Fuel 233whp 103ft.lbs

Glad to have Brock post on here. Reminds me of the old "LABusas" when the 2000 ZX12R was introduced, I had one of the 1st in Tennessee at that time. Doug Meyer of Muzzy Performance monitored that forum and contributed at times. I always respected his opinions and ran a Titanium Pipe with Carbon can the 1st couple years before I turbo'd that beast. Loved that bike dearly and was my favorite bike till this SXSE . While I run a Yosh Carbon slip-on on this one with a Vcyclenut tune, I certainly respect Brock's ability and his racing achievements. Might have bought his slip-on if it had come earlier and since I live about 5 miles from his facility I offered my bike for pipe developement early on but he already had someone in mind I suppose. Anyway, I enjoy his video's and hope that he continues to post on occasion if we haven't pissed him off too much. No flaming please, I fully understand everyone's point it's just that guys like him are an enormous benefit and addition to our forum. Peace
