Insurance Costs
I am in Pennsylvania, USA and was curious about insurance costs. I checked with my provider, who ran the rate for Erie and also Progressive insurance. I was a little...ahem...urprised by the rates, and especially the differences!
I am looking at an FJR 1300 ($585), a Versys 1000 ($355 for a 2016), a Ninja 1000 ($660), and the H2 SX SE ($1300 per year). OUCH!
I am wondering if people are using other carriers and seeing better rates in ‘Murica?

Re: Insurance Costs
My multi line insurance broker's lowest rate for the H2 SX SE, full coverage, was $1704/year. In comparison my '16 Street Triple R, full coverage, $399/year. '08 Sprint ST, full coverage, $262/year. All with Safeco. I have my house, and my Dodge Dakota all with SafeCo as well. St Louis area, garage kept, 45 years old, excellent credit

Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity

Re: Insurance Costs
I have insurance for my H2 SX SE through American Family Insurance at less than $400 per year. No tickets or crashes on the driving record and 60 years of age. Geico, Progressive were much more expensive in comparison.
Good luck!

Re: Insurance Costs
H2 SX SE is $1846
KTM SD 1290 is $291
Full coverage
I notice they classify my H2 SX as a regular H2. Does everyone else do this?

Re: Insurance Costs
It makes a big difference in how much liability coverage you are wanting or needing--would need to know this to compare the numbers. If you also have a personal umbrella policy you will probably need $500,000, but here in Texas all that is required to get your license tags is $20,000.

Re: Insurance Costs
Well, asking an international forum...
...here are my figures from Germany, with a little more explanation, so that you can compare ;-)
I live near the border to the Netherlands and Belgium, so theft drives the rates for vehicule insurance, here.
I have almost all my insurances with "VHV Versicherungen" (they obviously discount then), including the metal box on 4 wheels I also own and almost never use, the box made of stone I live in, for the kids doing mischieve, for the wife (who theaches) loosing school keys, my liability insurance, etc...
My yearly rates are:
Liability: (over 20 years of incidentless riding) 20% of 647,68 EUR = 129,54 EUR (73,72 USD) given a yearly distance of max 12k kms usage per year. I will definetly have to increase that next year.
This covers a total of 100 Mio EUR of damage to persons, property..., with a max of 15 Mio per person. If I throw my bike into a resevoir
for drinking water, I am covered with 5 Mio Euro per environmental incident. For twice a year. Come to thinking of it, I know of at least five resevoirs in the Eifel, where I could do that ;-)
Vehicule theft/vandalism: (I live in a bad area of GER for this) 445,11 EUR (506,64 USD)
This covers the purchase value of my bike (22k EUR) -500 EUR. So if it gets stolen or damaged in the attempt or hit by a tree in a parking lot, or if it explodes..., I cover for 500 EUR and the insurance co covers for the rest.
So, each year from now on, I pay VHV 580,36 USD. They asked me for my age (55 now) and km per year, but so far my insurance didn't give a damn about tickets (speeding, red lights, etc).
