Tried for a top speed run today

Post by cOoTeR » Fri Nov 30, 2018 2:29 am

My bike is flashed with a +500 rev limit. I had an open stretch of pavement today and decided to try to GPS my top speed. I was using an app on my phone called Ulysse Speedometer. It's not the best for measuring top speed since I think the sample rate of the phone is slower than normal GPS units. I started rolling into the throttle in 2nd gear and ran it up through 6th. The bikes speedo said 186mph when the app said 172. It stayed at 172 on the app for awhile them jumped to 176 where it held for a bit then jumped to 182 where it held then jumped to 186 where it held then it went to 190mph where it held longer then it hit 191mph. The rpms were climbing pretty slow at this point. I'm pretty sure the tach shows about 500 rpms higher than actual. My rev limiter is 13,000 but I don't hit it until the tach shows 13,500rpms. At 191mph showing on the GPS and 13k rpms showing on the tach the pavement got a little too bumpy and I was running out of the safe area I had so I let off. There seemed to be a lot of wind resistance once it got to 185mph but it felt pretty stable. I just need a little more room to hit the limiter to find the true top speed.

The tachymeter is off around 500 rpm. I already notice that and my tuner confirm that. At stock redline, the limiter kick at 13000 when the redline in the ECU is 12500

I did a pull today and using the draggy app saw 190 mph and it was still going, unfortunately the app doesn't store highest speed reached, I have some ideas to make sure I can do screen shot to show it

side note, the bike could deff use a steering damper now!!

I think my steering stem bearings may be a it loose though, I get a knock sometimes when I come to a stop. I need to check them

Are you still running stock gearing?

Sweet. Impressed not only with bikes performance but also the neat software apps, it's hi-tech too me. Between this post and another got me motivated to go out on my bike find someplace off in the distance and just grab a handful. Nothing exciting to report other than it's cold. What a rush tho.

Damn that sucks I was going to buy one today.

Did you happen to watch your boost temps at all? I checked mine right after I slowed down and they were at 185°. I wasn't to sure if that's safe.

Why more room instead of more gear?

You guys notice the trap speed difference between 1/4 times and 1 mile are often near 50 mph? Not saying 1 mile is the true measurement of top speed but would that explain having 500 rpms left over? Sorry just thinking this out loud.

cOoTeR wrote: Sun Nov 04, 2018 2:23 am Today i went to the track and got a lot of runs in. Bike was running it's pump gas (91 Oct) tune, stock ride height and wheelbase. Track elevation is 3,074ft temperature was in the low 80s (F), Density altitude was between 4,728ft and 5,088ft. I'm 220lbs without gear (maybe 250 in full leathers, boots and helmet).

My best was 10.331 at 145mph and 1.98 60ft.
