Anyone have experience with protective films?
Have you ever used protective films on a motorcycle before? If so what are some brands to avoid and which ones to use? About what size is needed to do a motorcycle like the SX?

I had xpel http://www.xpel.com/ on the sides of the gas tank of my H2. Good stuff. Didn't wrap the complete bike.

I've had Star Shield on a couple of cars before. I don't think I would bother with it on a motorcycle, but to each their own. It tends to start to bubble up around sharp corners, and peel up along the edges (motorcycles have a ton) and get dirt in those little spots. The better the application the less that all happens, but I've never seen one done perfect, even from a factory. Finally, after enough sun exposure, like any plastic, it starts to yellow a bit.
1 Exception would be if you track your street bike, I would put some around the bottom nose area of the fairings. That area get's beat up bad by tire pieces and grit from the track.

I've never really bothered with it in cars or bikes but ever since i moved to Arizona the rock chips are ridiculous. I really noticed out when i was detailing my ZX10-R to get out ready to sell. The bike looked great other than the chips around the front side.

Ah, that makes sense. I've actually ended up with a hole through a fairing when I was out in Arizona, riding near the White Tanks. Rocks everywhere on the roads!

I've put Tankslapper on a couple bikes, primarily on the sides of the tank where the knees might rub. Once on properly you can'treally tell they are there. all the patterns are pre-cut to fit most bikes. I think you can now get some in color or carbon look, but I always did clear. I would never do a total kit, seems like a pain the ass. just tank protection.

Re: Anyone have experience with protective films?
Im going to do following
1. Nano Coating
2. Decals (to give bike a unique sport style, and change color green to red)
3. Film to cover and protect
The right film wont be visible and will protect against average gravel impacts on fairings.
