Ergo Fit Reduced Reach SE Seat

Post by gremlin » Sat Nov 10, 2018 5:26 am

Does anyone have experience with this accessory seat from Kawasaki's catalog: Part# 99994-1066, retailing for $304.95.
It reduces the seat height by 5/8 of an inch. This would also improve the comfort quotient of the rider's triangle by reducing the strain on the rider's wrist. I find the standard SE seat painful on the crotch after 30 minutes, not from the height, but from the seat angle in relation to the gas tank. Maybe lowering the seat height and the inherent seat angle could improve comfort. I love so much about this machine, but the seat discomfort ruins the experience for me. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Then you would lose 5/8" of legroom which is already somewhat lacking. I had Sargent modify my stock SE seat to get rid of the bad seat angle causing the forward slide into the tank and make it more dish shaped without reducing the height and it worked out very well.

I purchased the Ergo-Fit Reduced Reach SE Seat from Kawasaki's accessory catalog. Retail is $304.95. I got it for a 20% discount from my Kawasaki dealer. The stock seat caused me discomfort within a few miles. The Ergo-Fit seat drops the seat height by 5/8 of an inch (15mm), and relaxes the rider triangle. I now ride my H2SX SE with a smile, versus a focus on the pain in my butt. The bike now reminds me of the seating position of my 1993 ZX11 (incredible comfortable with the stock seat), but with 25 years of increased technology, and another 50 horsepower. With the stock seat, I would have considered selling the H2SX SE. With the Ergo-Seat, I'll be keeping my H2SX SE for 25 years just like and along side my ZX11. What a difference a change in seats can make.

That's a bit pricey for the #99994-1066 ERGO SE SEAT.. (yes, I tripple checked ERGO-FIT® Reduced Reach SE Seat)

It's MSRP at USD $170 MSRP over here. I can usually get it for 20% off so about $136..

Ok, so I swung by my dealership this afternoon and ordered a Ergo Reduced-reach Seat for my SX SE. I was not able to get the 20% discount I predicted, but he still gave me 20$ off. He said his cost was 141$ and he was making 10$ on it. The seat is in stock at the warehouse so my dealer should have it by next week.

JonTheChron: Let me know what you think of the seat once you get a some miles on it. It's been a revelation for me. I'm fortunate to have 7 bikes in the garage. With the stock seat, my H2SX SE collected dust while I rode everything else simply to avoid pain. With the Ergo seat, my MT10, Superduke GT, and 14R, etc. all get by-passed so I can ride the H2. I've put another 75 miles on it today during a rare 50 (F) degree day in the Washington DC area. The Ergo seat should be the standard seat, versus a high priced optional seat. I'm glad Kawasaki at least provides an option.

I will sit on it and do a quick comparison, but unfortunately I will not be able to do a full review of the product before mid-March as regulations in my area almost prevents us from using our motorcycles until then..

My province requires all passengers vehicules and some trucks to be equipped with winter tires between December 15th and March 15th, motorcycles fall into this category. So Unless I equipt my bike with winter tires, I cannot ride it. I dont know anyone down here who has.. Either way we get temps reaching -40F sometimes.. :/

You poor bugger. I haven’t even seen a frost in the last 15 years I’ve been here.
