Hi everyone,
I haven't talk about that but i have a lithium battery since day one. I bought this for my previous VFR 800 2017.
The crank with the stock battery was slow, you really feel that the battery try hard to start the bike.
Since the new battery is installed, the bike start right up. I'm more confident with my bike because i'm not worried about having the battery discharge.
The weight is also a argument since the bike lost 2 kg(4,4 lbs)
The bike have in standard a voltmeter. So i can keep a eyes on regulator health. The battery doesn't support charge over 15V. The actual maximum i saw was 14,8V. Most of time it's around 14,5V and 14,7V which is perfect.
Cheers
Lithium battery

Re: Lithium battery
Yes, I have one fitted too. A Shido Bluetooth one. The battery monitor app on my phone is great realtime state of charge with individual cell voltage, plus temperature sensor. The battery is only 886g, I have managed to save almost 10kg in total.. battery, exhaust, centre stand, tail tidy, and fasteners..

Re: Lithium battery
Do the new generation of Li-ion batteries work better in cold conditions? The reason why I ask is that I fitted a Shorai on a bike years ago but gave up on it because they didn't work at all in very cold weather. They needed to be warmed up by discharging them, which was a pain.

Re: Lithium battery
Yes, they still suffer from cold weather power drop. Luckily I only use my bike in the summer, and it’s garaged during the winter, and connected to a lithium battery tender.
It’s currently 11c I’m my garage, and it cranks fine.. I’ll experiment as winter progresses. (Only in the garage though)

Re: Lithium battery
Mine never let me down even in cold weather. The CCA(Crank Cold Amps) is way high compared to the stock one. So it works at least as the stock battery in cold weather.Burmashave wrote: Sat Oct 20, 2018 4:11 pm Do the new generation of Li-ion batteries work better in cold conditions? 240 CCA for mine
190 CCA for stock battery
