Also, as stated before, using the quick shifter will cause your speed setting to be lost and the resume feature will not work.
This is not correct, on my commute to work this morning I set the CC to 70kmh and used the QS. Has the exact same effect, as when using the brake. The CC indicator is still illuminated, but the CC gets disengaged. When I pressed res/+ quickly enough, since I knew I was going to use the QS, I was back at 70 kmh without substantially losing any speed.
That's not the way mine works. Whenever I have the cruise control on and set at a given speed and use the QS (up or down) the setting goes away and the resume feature does not bring it back. I then have to hit the set switch again at the speed I want.
I have tried this numerous times.

interesting...
I know you are thorough, that's why I posted my findings from this morning's ride. The white indicator led should still be illuminated, though.
I'll double check first thing tomorrow morning and provide results.
Can't do that now, already had a beer...

My experience is similar. I generally only use CC in 6th gear but, even without shifting gears, there have been plenty of occasions when CC would not resume previously set speed. Trying to understand it I looked at the owner's manual. It says that CC will stop "
when the vehicle speed drops 15 km/m (9 mph) from the set speed". Since reading that I haven't checked to confirm if I'm letting the speed drop too much.

It's amazing how fast you can go when you take your time.

It seems if the speed drops any from the set speed after using the brake, clutch, or forward twist of the throttle the resume feature should bring it back. Not sure why they would put a 9 mph limit on it but I will have to check that out as well.
Maybe that's what's going on with the QS since I think I have always exceeded a 9 mph drop in speed downshifting with the QS before upshifting with it when I notice that I cannot resume the set CC speed. However, I think I have downshifted with the clutch to more than a 9 mph drop and then upshifted and the resume feature worked.

I'll take a detour to work over the Autobahn for testing this tomorrow!
I'll simply get up a little earlier ;-)

For what it's worth, I often use CC in gears 3-5 as well as 6. I do a lot of riding on back roads and through a lot of small towns with posted 30-35 MPH posted limits. I hit cruise to keep it near the speed limit through the villages. It's a courtesy thing and helps me avoid speed traps. It also gives me a chance to stand up a bit on the pegs to rest my backside.

Ok, so I took my favorite detour over the Autobahn on my commute to work this morning and played around with the CC.
- CC will only kick in, when in 3rd and above gear.
- CC can only be set at speeds above 35kmh (that's at least as slow as I dared to ride in traffic to work today)
- CC will disengage when using brakes, the clutch and QS
- CC will NOT disengage when using the throttle to increase speed no matter how fast or how long, the dash will the show a green symbol with the set speed above it
- when CC is engaged and you change gear with the QS, you can, I repeat, you can resume set speed by pressing the res/+ button right away. I did this "a million" times this morning. cross my heart, swear to god and hope to die. And I did this immediately after shifting, so I am assuming, speed did not drop enough. 15kmh drop is pretty much, so I guess I haven't run into that situation in the past. I'll check on that when riding home in the evening.

You say you have to hit the resume switch "right away" after using the QS. Let's say you are going at highway speed in 6th gear and you downshift to 3rd gear using the QS due to some traffic (CC disengages) and then after a few minutes upshift back to 6th gear using the QS and then hit the resume switch right away--will the resume feature work then? That would be a more real life situation. It seems that I have done that and it does not work, but if I do all of that shifting with the clutch and not the QS it does work.

The speeds that the US and European cruise control work at are different. So the way they work could be completely different as well.

I wondered that as well. I don't really see why it would (except for the higher limit in Europe which sucks for us in the US).
