Been riding a Vstrom for almost 8 years

Post by SXtreme » Thu Dec 28, 2017 11:18 pm

Been riding a Vstrom for almost 8 years. For those who have owned a bike similar to the h2 sx, what can I expect switching bikes? It's been awhile since I owned a more sporty bike and when I did back in the early 2000s it was only a 600.

My Vstrom is perfectly mundane, predictable, vanilla, uninspiring, utilitarian, practical. It will be like going from a station wagon to a Ferrari or something. I'm a bit intimidated TBH.

Don't know on the H2 SX yet, but if it's anything like riding a Hayabusa (similar power), the best word I could use is deceptive. I'd find myself at 100+ speeds without realizing it. I'm sure it will be tuned for smooth power delivery. Nothing like the Supersport bikes. Well, at least until I find someone to flash the ECU more aggressive :)

My 08 C14 was similar to what kman0066 said about riding a busa. I've ridden a lot of busas aswell. When your trying to cruise the C14 would creep to higher speeds faster and smoother. When accelerating they both would do it so smooth that it felt slow compared to the speed you were actually doing and it'd be a surprise at how fast your going when you finally look at the speedometer. The Busa was obviously faster but up to about 120 the c14 was not a slow bike even with all the bags on it. Both handle very well for their size and with a good rider can run with most liter bike riders in the curves.

The SX is going to be more powerful and lighter than both and more sport oriented than the C14 with forced induction. The supercharger should allow the bike to have better low and midrange power aswell. So I'm expecting it to be better than my old c14 in everyway except comfort and more comfortable than a busa and I'm hoping it will perform equal to a busa or zx-14r.

I wish I could compare it to your vstrom buy I've only ridden one once probably back in 08 so I don't remember much about it. I can't say abutting definitive about the SX since they haven't hit the market yet it's all speculation and bench racing.

i'll echo what others have said having ridden a busa for awhile. You'll probably find speed to be deceptive and smooth. where on some bikes you know when you are hitting 80mph, you'll probably get that same feeling when you suddenly look down and see your doing 120mph without even realizing it because it feels like you're cruising at normal highway speed.

i actually find a leaned over riding position better for my lower back than an uprite seating position.
