If the whole clip on is turning, its due to the red loctite on the bolt holding the bar end in. The clicking is most likely the guide pin popping out of the hole on the clip on.

Hey mate...it will be very unlikely that you will be able to just unscrew the bar end weight due to the loctite they put on....if you put the drive bit into the bar end screw and turn slowly while pulling outwards on the bar end weight a whole insert with bar end attached will slide out of the handlebar tube allowing you to change grips or whatever you are planning to do. This inner bar has like a rubber sprocket on each end presumably to reduce vibration. I don't think there will be much room for silicone and this insert.Madscotchman wrote: Sun Oct 07, 2018 3:46 pm Hi I was going to remove my bar ends to fill my clip ons with silicone to get rid of the bibs as my left hand goes to sleep too much vibes . Once it is off there is a flattened section on the inner bar that you can put a spanner on to then unscrew the bar end weight.
I left the whole.assembly as one piece, changed grips and then just pushed the whole.thing back in slowly rotating it until it realigned and clicked into place.
If need be I can remove it again and take some pics for you...let me know..

Re: How to remove the bar ends confused
Whatever you do, don't turn the allen key, with the weight still in the handlebar, you will ruin the interior clip. And possibly cause extra vibrations in the handlebar. It's not a standard handlebar.
Loosen the throttle cables and remove them completely from the handlebar. Push back the grip a bit to reveal the clips and gently push them out of the holes while pulling on the weight and the whole weight assembly will come out as one piece. I would not recommend filling the handlebar with silicone as its weight is precisely set for reducing engine vibrations.

they clearly not working at all. i was thinking to get heavier bar ends too, it seems like everything on the bike is top heavy but the handle bar weights
