No, I let it out slowly. After watching the video a few times I realize I was shifting pretty early too. I'm pretty impressed with the traction control too. It lifted up only maybe an inch or two in second gear. I wasn't full throttle eitherBurmashave wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 2:50 pmA_MAC, did you totally dump the clutch?A_MAC wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 2:33 pm https://photos.app.goo.gl/VBPPPAtA24xDPScj6
Testing the launching control after a vcyclenut tune! I wasn't full throttle, but the quick is quick!

Re: 1/4 mile times?
It took about 3 full pulls on the dyno for my bike to go into limp mode. So your probably fine with a quick burnout.Snakes709 wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 1:30 am Quick question for everyone that has done drag racing. We all know the big wigs out on a dyno since the front wheel isnt spinning. Anyone have issues with doing a burnout?
With that being said a stock wheel base sport bike on a street tire doing a burnout most likely isn't necessary or going to help. A powerful sport bike on stock wheel base is most likely going to lift the front wheel before breaking traction, especially on a prepped track. Street tires are designed to be more resistant to the effects of temperatures on traction than a race tire. Some people claim that street tires easily over heat and get "greasy" from burnouts. I haven't seen any research to back or disprove that though. It will wear the center of your tread out really fast though. Another thing to consider is that your tires have a tread that can hold water. You put your tire into the water box, it picks up water on the surface and in the treads then you spin the tire really fast that water is going to fly off and hit the underside of your fender and mud guard. As you pull away the water stuck under the bike will start to drip onto and infront of the tire. Water on a prepped track is very slippery. The only time I've had the tire spin on launch was when the track was during a "no prep" street night. An un prepped drag strip can be more slippery than the road. I went to take off and the tire chirped kicked out a little to the side then caught traction and I was on my way down the track rapidly. I dropped 2 psi and didn't have any issues the rest of the night.
Never pull straight through the water box with street tires even if you're going to do a burn out. Drive around it, back in pull slightly forward so the rear tire is out of the puddle then do the burnout. That way you minimize the amount of water flying off of your tire. The H2 SX is a tricky bike to launch, there is a fine line between bogging the bike down with too little rpms and lifting the front with too many rpm.

Re: 1/4 mile times?
I agree 100%. I never do burnouts at the strip with my street tires on the bike or car. I always go around the water box and wait for the other guy to do his before i trip the beam. Was just curious incase i do spin and have to warm it up on the next run.

You're probably better off dropping a couple PSI in the tire.Snakes709 wrote: Thu May 09, 2019 4:10 pm I agree 100%. I never do burnouts at the strip with my street tires on the bike or car. I always do. I have a small air compressor i bring in my bag to fill it back up when i head home. Now i dont have to find someone with a car to use their 12v socket

Re: 1/4 mile times?
I went to the track again last night. Elevation is 3,074ft I think the temperatures started in the 80s (F) and cooled down to low 70s. I had lowered the bike and strapped the front. The best I got was a 10.054 at 147mph with a 1.8 60ft. I just couldn't get myself to pin the throttle and release the clutch fast enough at the same time. It's a little frustrating because the bike is definetly able to run in the 9 second range, I just wasn't aggressive enough off of the line. I never had the bike wheelie or the back tire spin. So I know I can do better just gotta practice.
I got a few different videos I'll try to get uploaded soon.

Don't beat yourself up about it at all. You're in good company.cOoTeR wrote: Sat May 18, 2019 5:01 pm ...I just couldn't get myself to pin the throttle and release the clutch fast enough at the same time....
The reason I asked A_Mac about that very thing was that last week I heard Roger Hayden say that it took him some time to learn to trust the launch control enough to dump the clutch on race starts. I was surprised to hear that from such a seasoned racer. Roger was in the commentary box during one of the MotoAmerica races, and he was talking about how electronics had fully evolved during his riding career.

I wasn't using the launch control. It limits the acceleration in first gear.Burmashave wrote: Sat May 18, 2019 7:55 pmDon't beat yourself up about it at all. It's all good. But it was still the same concept, I couldn't bring myself to trust the lowered geometry I was running.Burmashave wrote: Sun May 19, 2019 1:02 amMy bad for assuming.cOoTeR wrote: Sat May 18, 2019 8:25 pmI wasn't using the launch control.
