It wasn't too bad, it took me 5 hours.
If I were to do it again I would do it in 3. The engine coolant should be drained and the radiator disconnected. I spent too much time trying to mingle with it in place before deciding to disconnect it.
I would highly recommend getting 4x new OEM exhaust gaskets before proceding to install.
I didn't but its because I will be tearing my bike apart again this winter for ECU removal.
Why do you highly recommend getting 4 new gaskets?
The copper gaskets that are on there with the stock systems were visibly crushed to the pattern of the stock system. Also, service manual also says to replace them if servicing the exhaust manifold.
Is yours leaking? Most of the time I've replaced exhaust systems I've reused the gaskets and haven't had an issue.
They don't appear to be leaking. I should of have taken a few pictures, had I checked the manual beforehand I sill would of have ordered them as a preventative measure. They were quite flattened/indented when I removed them. I don't mind spending a few bucks for the piece of mind.
I will be taking the bike apart again this winter to extract the ecu, I will definitely pop the headers out and change out the gaskets then.

Not sure. Have yet to bring my bike through one. I hit one yestersay in my stock 2016 ram 1500. Hit 73.2db when i stomped on the gas and went through at 5000rpm. Its fucked up because the city by-law states no motorcycle shall be operated if it exceeds 91 db at idle or 96db at 2000rpm. This is still in the trial phase so no tickets being issued yet but if they go through with it, i foresee lots of tickets being thrown out.
Being that sound is not visible it seems that it would be POSSIBLE that the noise came from somewhere else. So it would be impossible to prove the sound registered by the cameras came from your machine.
If I got a ticket from one of those cameras I would spend a couple hours a day standing beside it with an air horn to show it's not accurate.
Yea, way to many flaws in it. Impossible to tell where it comes from with multiple vehicles on the road. I might msg akrapovic and see if i can pressure them to build a full exhaust. I had the yoshimura alpha 3/4 system that was for the gen 5 zx10r on my gen 4. Loved it but it was quite loud. Would definitly get me in trouble. I tend to stay out if the city though. So iiunno

Well mine showed up today. Took me about 5 hours to get it on. I can't believe how much stuff you have to remove to install an exhaust. I was able to refill the coolant and start it up. Man does she sound good!!!
I'll put the fairing back on tomorrow after work and take her out for a spin.

Got all the fairings on today and able to go for a ride. Really transforms the bike when you are going fast. I won't say it felt any faster, but it sure does sound the part now.

How much coolant are you guys losing when draining the radiator? I'm going to swing by the dealership this weekend to pick up some new oil to do an oil change while I'm changing the exhaust. Just want to make sure I have enough coolant to top it off after the install.

I have decided to run the ZX10R OEM header with spacers I had made and a Delkavic mid pipe. I cannot see that the Vandemon will make all that much more, and this setup will cost less than $500. With WAY over 200 hp, I am OK if I leave a few hp on the table. I have tons of extra spacers if others want to go this way also.

Honestly i dont think there will be any hp difference between the two. Kawasaki nailed the gen4 headers. Light weight and flows really well. I’m debating going this route. I just dont know if the mufflers i want will fit.
