turning lights always on?
turning lights always on?
Hi, new to the site and have a question about the turning lights.
Does anyone know or threorize that it will be possible to wire them up to act as permanent running lights during the night maybe on a switch and relay? Thanks.

Will have to see how they are setup. If they are just wired up power and ground to them, it would be easy. If its a CAN signal to a PCB in the light module, it would take some cleverness with electronics to send the correct conmands. I'm going to guess it's pretty simple, but we'll see. Something has to control them, question will be if that is built into the lights or external to them.

I guess that was my question. Based on people currently owning a modern kawi, or previously owning, are the lighting systems integrated into the computer system, or is it as simple as splicing into wiring?

Yeah, normally lights are just lights. These are using data from IMUs I assume, so all new territory. Should be pretty obvious when wiring diagrams are available.

kman is correct, the lights will be controlled by signals from the IMU routed back to ECU. Some smart modder will probably figure it out, but it won't be as simple as is used to be. modern bike elecrical system are getting as complex as cars.

These are momentary lights that come on for a couple seconds at a time. Will they be able to last while running for long periods of time without over heating?

LED lights consume low power and have long life and reliability. If someone figures it out it shouldn't be a problem for them to be optional running ligjts.

Re: turning lights always on?
You can sure add a wire with relay to permanently turn on the side lights, BUT they may be blinding drivers on opposite side of road if operated in upright position as they point forward and to the side a bit.
in my opinion (from experience) LED lights are just awful. e.g. stock LEDs on CBR650F 2017 are literally unsafe for riding at night (on roads without overhead lights). on previous version CBR650F 2014 i replaced stock lamp with Philips Ultra vision 130+ and they could light up whole road and trees for hundred meters.

Re: turning lights always on?
I will probably wire my lights to work that when I hit the 20°/30°angle all 3 lights on one side will turn on instead of just the second or the third
