Further musings on air cleaner replacement
I took the plung to change out to the Sprint P08 filter, made sure to buy from our very own vcyclenut. I "waited" until 4296 miles. And this is what I ended up with on the OEM filter. KInda shocking.

Re: Further musings on air cleaner replacement
Fairing removal was fairly straight forward, except for that one blind rivet. At the very front corner of the fairing, up under the headlights. That bastard isn't going back in. I was afraid I was going to break the tab off trying to get it, as it's buried under another fairing trim piece under the nose.

Re: Further musings on air cleaner replacement
The bike has been sitting for a couple weeks, and the filter I took out still smelled of petroleum. Blech! I emptied the gravel catch tube that comes off the bottom of the air intake spacer. There was a little resedue of fuel/oil in the bottom of the "airbox". I also emptied the mystery drain bottle that hangs inside the left fairing. Is this the fuel overflow catch bottle?

Thats the oil catch can any excess oil that end up in the interior of your air intake is winds up in there. Ive emptied mine twice so far.stk0308 wrote: Fri Aug 17, 2018 7:40 pm The bike has been sitting for a couple weeks, and the filter I took out still smelled of petroleum. Blech! Re: Further musings on air cleaner replacement
The inner ricer in me is curious. Does a aftermarket filter change the sound of the supercharger or bov? Makes it louder?

Re: Further musings on air cleaner replacement
I run around with ear plugs so I can't say I've noticed any extra induction noise.

Re: Further musings on air cleaner replacement
I have the lower left fairing removed, also the upper left inner piece. Is it totally necessary to fully remove the rear duct to gain access to the filter?
I have the left fairing off for an oil/filter change. I have a new air filter on order which won't be here until next week. I considered taking out the old air filter and shaking it off before putting the fairings back on but if that rear duct has to be removed completely I'll just wait until the new part comes in.

Re: Further musings on air cleaner replacement
I am not sure exactly what piece you are referring too, but when you replace the filter you can touch the super charger blades. So all that stuff comes off.

Getting to the air filter is really easy. I don't even remove the fairing to get it out.Reciprocal wrote: Sun Jul 14, 2019 6:03 pm I have the lower left fairing removed, also the upper left inner piece. Is it totally necessary to fully remove the rear duct to gain access to the filter?
