How to post pictures from an ipad

How do I post images from my iPad to a post? Thanks.

You can't paste directly into a post. You need to upload your pics to a hosting site then include a link in your post. There are quite a few free hosting sites out there. I use Flikr - one of the more popular sites (for a reason).

You can use the "Share" option on the Flikr site to generate a BB Code that you can paste directly into your post. That is the simplest way to do it.

I prefer to use the little "Insert image" button above the reply window. When you click that "insert image" button icon it will add image code tags like this

Insert the url (web address) of the image file between the image tags. In the editor window the result will look like this:

but when you preview or submit your message the result is this:

Of course you're unlikely to be posting pictures of my bike but you get what I mean.

Sorry if I've explained a bunch of stuff you already know. I'm assuming from your question that you're not familiar with posting images in forum posts.

Almost there. You must have chopped the .jpg extension off the end of the image file name

Champ87 still can't get it. I choose a picture and hit the copy URL button. Then select image button on post. Then touch between the Img. Icons. Then hit paste but still nothing. How did you get my picture to come up?

the code for that picture shows up on my iPad as

It looks like maybe your iPad is giving the url for the web page rather than the image. If I click on it brings up the complete page with the image on it.

Let's do the simple way first:

• Go to the Flickr page with the image on it. Just below the picture to the right of the page you'll see some icons - for favorite, share or download.
• Click the arrow icon to share
  
• It'll bring up a box saying "Share 1 photo to:"
• Select "BBCode"
  
• You'll see some highlighted code. Simply copy that code and paste into your message.

With that you should see your pic. The unfortunate thing is the code includes links and extra information. If you're OK with that then just be happy and move on. If you want to get rid of that extra information then, before you post your message, edit the code so all your left with is the {img} tags with the picture info between. Like this:

It's a bit of a PITA but every forum I've ever posted to worked that way. Back when I didn't know how to post pics someone took the time to explain so this feels like a chance to payback. I'm sure there are others reading who will be grateful of such info.

Use the Attachment tab under the Save draft button. Must be in full post edit mode, not quick reply mode. Then click Add File.

Clicking on the FAQ link in the upper left can also be informative because it tells you how to do everything but requires actually clicking on it and reading the words.
