I spoke to Sargent today and they said that they couldn't extend the pocket any further forward because the seat is too narrow there and it would create a ridge on both sides that would be uncomfortable. I really do like what they have done and am perfectly fine staying in the seat for 120-150 miles at a stretch when I usually like to get off of the bike anyway. I'm sure I could make it to 200 miles for fill up to fill up capability if necessary without much discomfort.

If anyone is interested in Sargent modifying their SE seat like mine just talk to Dane and tell him that you want what he did for the guy in Houston. I was the first and only one to ask for this and I told Dane that others from the forum might be giving him a call. I think you will be pleased (no, I'm not on Sargent's payroll--just some friendly advice).

+1

Mebbe an order number and or date would work just as well. Something Sergant could reference to. I think there are several guys who will be looking for the same seat treatment this off season.

Again, I want to thank HouTexH2SX for breaking ground. The thing I find most intimidating on a custom seat job is describing exactly what I want done.

I didn't break ground, Houtexh2sx did lol. But after the first day of riding my bike I knew that seat had to be changed due to my back injury.

Some days, I shouldn't be allowed online. Thanks for the correction. I've fixed my post.

The wife got her cast off Wednesday so we went on our first ride together yesterday. Did about. 220 miles and the seat sucked. Lol. Can't wait for Sargent to hopefully make a production seat. Don't want the down time of sending mine off. If they don't have one by winter I might send mine in.

The way the bike is selling I'd be surprised if they make one for production. I had one made for my Superduke GT. They don't make one for the R or the GT, and especially the R sells decently world wide. But no harm in hoping. I'm a close friend of HouTexH2SX and I can speak for both of us when I say that Sargent did what they said they would do, and for both of us it was right at three weeks round trip, also as they said it would be.

HouTexH2SX wrote: Sun Sep 16, 2018 9:22 pm I finally got out for a long ride today to test out the Sargent modified seat. It makes a HUGE difference for me! I no longer slide forward toward the tank and I sit in a slightly dished "pocket" that spreads out the pressure points. The longest stretch I went without a break was about 120 miles and I no longer felt any pressure in the perineum area--before modification I would be in pain after about 40 miles. The seat works best if I stay sitting further back in the pocket--if I had any complaint about what Sargent did it would be that the nose is still a little too flat. It would be better if the pocket extended a little more forward but I'm okay with it as is. I'm not going to be going on any 600 mile days with this bike--I have my FJR with a Russell Day Long saddle for that.

This was also my first ride with the accessory lower smoke windshield. The higher stock SE windshield put the wind blast on my helmet with a lot of buffeting--the lower one puts it at my upper chest with the helmet in clean air and the pressure on my chest takes some of the weight off my arms. I also ordered the 10mm clip on risers that should also help--we'll see.

I also installed the Yoshimura slip-on. It looks WAY better than the cartoonish stock can and sounds better too, especially in the higher RPM's.
Can someone provide me with some info on the 10 mm clip on risers discussed in the post?
