Sport or touring tires?

Post by Cenjuro » Mon Jul 23, 2018 7:55 pm

Hello!

My o e m Bridgestones looks like doesn't pass 3000 kilometers and I am looking for next tires.

What tyres have you tried? Our h2 sx is very special, a lot of power, handling... I don't know if this bike will work with something like road 5or angel gt or shall I go for some sportier like power rs or Diablo rosso.

Let s talk about tires.

I have a set of sportsmart 2 max waiting hehe . I 'll tell when the s21 were k.o.

I have 6200 KMs on my Angel GT A-Spec and they don't appear to be half worn. I have spent a whole day at the track and several hours dragging the bike.

OEM S21 lasted me 5800 and I was well past the wear bars.

I've got over 3,000 miles on a set of Road 5s on my SX SE. I love them. I like the way it handles, and they seem to be standing up well to the abuse. For comparison, the OEM S21 were at the rear wearbars, and showing some obvious cupping up front, at 1640 miles. I was riding pretty conservatively during break in.

After 3400 KMs on the oem S21 I have 4500 KMs on Continental Road Attack 3. Not much wear so far and good grip on both dry and wet.

Unless you do a lot of track racing I would prefer sport touring tires because of the extended mileage. The grip of sport touring tires are good enough for road use on dry surface and way better on wet!

Just put a new set of 21’s on.
Did 3500 miles but never had a problem with them. Managed 47 lean and not a wink from the tyres, hence putting another set on.. That said, if I get the same again will probably look around..
Angel gt a class or rp5’s sound good..

I had Angel GT's on my ZX14. They are a decent tire but really bad when you hit tar snakes. I have Pilot road 5's on it now and love them.

My 2015 zx14r had the s21'ss stock and I got 3,500 very spirited miles out of them mostly 2 up. Never had any traction issues. Next I went with Pilot Road 4 gt's (the road 5's weren't out then) and got 5,300 out of them. With traction control on 1 and full power you could make the rear step out on you a little coming out of corners very hard. Next I did Dunlop Road Smart 3's. They are on there now and have 4,400 miles and are very close to the wear bars. I would say 3-500 wiles at most. They grip better than the PR4's never had any traction issues at all with them. Was gonna do the Road 5's next but another rider took me out and the bike is totaled. I think they might be the answer because of the lack of tread on the very edges. That should yield a little more traction. And all 3 tires regularly saw 150 almost every ride.

I think that angel gt would work very well in our bikes because this was tyre choice for ktm superduke gt, and looking at power Curve was very close, but i like sportier tires because the bike moves easily.

I'm getting the feeling it's less about power, and more about weight. Over, say, 540 lbs, and many tire manufacturers will recommend their stiffer carcass tires.
