Akrapovic slip on installed on H2 SX SE

Post by mobilemitch » Tue Jul 03, 2018 4:32 pm

Thought some of you might appreciate seeing what the Akrapovic slip on looks like installed. I think it is a big improvement. Its more trim and tidy, More discrete, doesn't draw the eye to the muffler like the stock exhaust does. Plus it is still long enough to not dump hot exhaust onto the side bags. (not pictured)

Mods so far for this bike are the exhaust, cat removal, woolrich long box w O2 sensor, Sprint Race use filter. Still to come, a tail tidy. (any recomendations there?)

I haven't put it on the dyno yet. My shop is still trying to get the procedure to get the ABS & safety electronics to turn off so they can successfully dyno it. I know its not necessary but I think being able to quantify the HP results is cool.

If your shop can't figure out how to turn off the TC system and disable the front wheel speed sensor fault in the woolich software i wouldn't want them running it on the dyno. It's just a box you check in the woolich software but it needs to be done before doing a baseline run or it will throw the bike into limp mode.

How did you do the cat delete? Loins line it's still there in the pictures you posted.

On the cat, They took out its innards and welded in a sleeve or something like that. So ya, from the outside it still looks like there is a cat.

On the dyno issue, I have full faith in my shop. They service all the racers in town and have fully certified mechanics. They have taken good care of all my bikes. I was just passing along a comment the front desk person made as to why the dyno hadn't been performed yet. 3rd hand info. It might have been why they didn't run it before the install of woolrich? I dunno. I took just took the bike out for a quick spin, took the pictures then brought it back to them to do the rest of the stuff I asked them to do. Its in there now. I am going to pass along your tip just in case they haven't already figured that out though. Thanks :)

Interesting I've just had the same slipon installed, hasn't improved the sound of the bike much at all. I admit it looks better though. How does yours sound with this cat "modification" you've had done? God damn I hope there is a full system soon. I might have to sell this bike otherwise.

Man up nightwatcher. You're sounding like a real drama queen! Just go out and ride the thing, put a smile back on your face.

You need to pull out dbkillers for it to sound better. Without dbkillers removed it sounds almost like stock, but looks better.

This is mine without/with dbkillers

Thanks for posting that Rymek, that is helpful.
And nightWatcher, you crack me up. Surely the power is sexy enough to make up for any deficiencies in the soundtrack?

I got the slip on for two reasons. 1, it looks way better. 2, supposedly it is more free flowing. (little more HP) I need to leave the silencing baffles intact. (Neighborhood politics)
I didn't really notice if removing the cat internals changed the sound at all. If it did, it was subtle.

Can u be a little more specific on how they removed the cats?( there’s 2) did they surgically remove the 2,or did they use a big hammer and chisel

I asked my shop to take it out but they left that undone untill the shop owner had a chance to talk with me. I didn't realize this till after I made the post. I've since talked with him and he recommended (if not insisted) that I not have them do it. He said it wouldn't make that big a difference. Plus It would kill resale. And it would be the hammer and chisel method. He says that if I really want the next level improvement for the bike I'd have to wait for someone to offer a full performance exhaust system without a cat.

So I'll be watching and waiting

Full systems are days away from being released. Keep a close eye on Vandemon.
