Review of VcycleNut ECU Flash
Review of VcycleNut ECU Flash
I received my ECU back from Vcyclenut last night and was able to get my bike back together. Late this afternoon, I proceeded on a two hour back road adventure to test everything out. Just for reference, I am in my late 40's and I have owned many many bikes including but not limited to, zx9,zx11,zx12r,zx14,zx14r so I know a thing or two about performance. Well.... MAN oh MAN!!!! This bike is a rocket! You can tell that a lot of time was spent in every RPM and MAP to get the fueling perfected. There are not any hiccups what so ever that I came across. The power is very linear. The mid range is greatly improved and I would say that the dyno chart shown on Vcyclenut's website has to be spot on for my bike just like the one tested and shown. Once you get to 6k rpms, there is a noticeable difference in power (as the SC really kicks in ) well over the stock power. After 8k, you better be holding on tight and have at least Traction Control set to something besides off. The temperature was 95f this evening and when I took off in first (traction control 1) my front wheel came up about 1 foot and stayed there even through 2nd and 3rd gear (bouncing of course). I found some pretty good tight turns (for East Texas) and tested out the on/off throttle and again I was very impressed. There was no abruptness at all. Besides the exhilarating top end of the bike, the most impressive thing to me is the mid range. The bike pulls so hard even in 6th gear. It is now every bit as strong as my 14R was. For those on the fence about getting a flash, VcycleNut has really done his homework and at the price he is currently offering, you had better take him up on it before he comes to his senses! The removal of ECU is not that bad and you really only have to remove the right side fairing for retrieval. While my bike was apart and waiting on the ECU, I installed a much needed radiator grill guard and a very loud nautilus compact air horn. I love the quietness of the exhaust but I need a good loud horn when cages come and get in my way!
Cheers

Re: Review of VcycleNut ECU Flash
Good stuff, thanks for sharing.
I'm probably going to do that flash, but need to see what goes on with exhaust. I probably will not a do a full system, it honestly feels like a waste (other than saving some weight) when you can get to 220+ rwhp with a $250 stock flash and filter.
My concern is slipons and how that will affect the performance of the flash. I'm leaning towards the carbon Yoshi Alpha as it's got a nice mellow rumble to it, not obnoxiously loud. But I doubt vcyclenut will do a flash tweak just for that slipon.

UFO, I absolutely will be developing a flash for a slip on. I wont be developing for every different brand of slip on because I have found that as long as its a normal type straight through perforated core type they are all going to flow damn close to the same.
The first one which looks like the yosh at this point that becomes available I will start.
I may even see if I can put together my own just do develop the flash. next on my list is the e85 tune using the stock bike with sprint filter.
problem is its so freaking hot here now it affects tuning so I may have to wait a couple months to proceed further.

Man... I'm wanting to get this flashed but can't take the time out to do it. I ride everyday. That and I will not be doing a full exhaust just a slip on. So not having that available yet my choice is obvious. Be patient. The moment you have a slip on flash VC let the masses know. I'll take 3 days to overnight it back and forth to you.

Also, are you going to do a slipon w/Sprint filter tune?
Thanks.

Re: Review of VcycleNut ECU Flash
I sent my ECU to vcyclenut and I'm extremely pleased with the results. The bike is smoother all around and the difference in the top end pull is quite noticeable. I stayed conservative by not opting for the rev extend and I stayed with the stock air filter. David is a pleasure to deal with is very good with communication. It's worth the time and trouble to pull the ECU out and send it to him.
