Homemade front axle tool.

Post by cOoTeR » Sat Jun 16, 2018 2:01 am

So I ordered a new tire and being the cheap person I am I planned on taking the tire off the bike and taking it in to the shop. Well I forgot that I had lost or had my axle tool stolen. Getting off of work 2 hours before the shop closed I was in a bind to get the tire off.

So I took a bolt with a 22mm head and added 2 nuts to it. I tightened the two nuts together at the end. I was able to put the head of the bolt into the axle nut and put a wrench on the nut that was on the inside of the two nuts. I was able to loosen the axle with the homemade tool. I'm planning on picking up another axle tool but figured I would share this method because it could be helpful to others especially if a side of the road repair is needed.
