I figured I'd update u guys after picking up the bike today. Total bill ended up being $245 US. Oil and filter change, apparently they drained crankcase breather, inspected fuel filter and fuel lines, inspect and adjust chain and lubricate, inspect and adjust brake pads and brake fluid levels, inspect and and adjust clutch and fluid level, checked coolant, check FR and RR suspension for leaks and wear, checked tire pressures and condition, checked throttle operation and checked lights and all safety switches and horn. I made it a point for them to check why the clutch fluid was turning super dark, and they said they were going to contact Mother Kawi about it. Will update when I find out more.
Wow, I wonder why my service was $340?

Hmm... aren't you guys present during your mainteances? I'm always in the workshop when my bike is on the lift and my dealers mechanics are ok with that and i'm always seeing what are they inspecting and replacing. There's no 'Apparently' during my services
After one official kawasaki workshop totally f**cked up my bike i'm finding myself very hard to trust any mechanic (I have maybe 2 or 3 that I would trust completely but that's it).

Liability issues they claim, actually, they don’t want the customer/owner to “witness” a

My dealer/service where I go when I asked why they allow people in the shop answered me "why not .... I have nothing to hide". I don't trust shops that don't allow owners in

I have no idea... I know for a fact that they just put conventional oil in there for the oil change (figured I won’t go full synthetic until after break in) but that doesn’t justify a 100 dollar difference. Did they give u a sheet that broke down exactly what they did?? I’ll post pics once I’m home. I’ve started an envelope for receipts of work done to bike to cover my own ass.

I work nights, so I had to drop the bike off to them before I went to work the night before. I completely agree about staying to make sure they do everything they’re supposed to do.

Next service I’m gonna stay to make sure everything goes good. That service will probably be the end of season service

You guys should buy a shop manual, and learn how to do this simple stuff on your own, keep all receipts, and log all the maintenance (date and miles)....unless you are a very, very trusting person

,and have wads of cash laying about

Sometimes it's more about letting the tech work without some chatterbox ninny constantly bothering them with questions and wanting to talk. Those owners need to be barred from working areas.

Motorcycling is not, of itself, inherently dangerous. It is, however, extremely unforgiving of inattention, ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity

Going to do my first service (oil change to motul synthetic) in my garage. Purchased OEM filter and crush washers at the dealer with receipts. Anyone have a link to the torque settings for the oil pan bolt ?
Taking a 900 mile trip for work and want to go over the bike where possible.

Look at the first topic in this very sub-forum (Mods & Maintenance)
viewforum.php?f=8
~1000 pages of everything you need to know about the bike.
