According to the Owner's Manual, the engine stop switch does stop the engine, but "it does not turn off all the electrical circuits and eventually the battery will be discharged." [page 136 in my manual]

I'm currently working on a keyless setup for my H2 SX SE.

3 years ago I fitted a keyless system to my Triumph Sprint - click here for details. It is so convenient to just walk up and start the bike without key. All you need is remote in your pocket. Obviously, you still need the key for the gas cap and seat lock but it can be in your pocket attached to the remote.

I've been discussing with my friend DEcosse from the Triumph forums to see what is needed to make a keyless system for the H2 SX SE. From what we've discovered I can tell you that some work and detailed knowledge of the H2 SX wiring will be needed to adapt that system that Rymek posted to the H2 SX. I'm certain it would require some cutting into the OEM harness.

For owners of European spec H2's the biggest problem will be the immobilizer. Whatever system you use the key needs to be very close to the ignition switch. Simply having the key in you pocket will not be close enough. The immobilizer cannot be disabled in the ECU. One option is to cut the transponder head off the key and fix it to the switch to bypass the need for putting the key in the switch. That's a solution but it illustrates just one problem that needs to be resolved. There are others.

As I said, we're working on a system for my H2 SX SE. It will be H2 SX SE specific. Part of the plan is to make it plug-and-play as much as possible. I'll post more details when we've ironed out the issues and come up with a system for my bike.

Easy - just plug it in right there!. Champ87 scoping out the electrics for a keyless system.

The immobilizer is a big obstacle that doesn't seem to have a simple workaround. I looked into the option of disabling the immobilizer in the ECU but, as you might expect, Kawasaki didn't make that an option for security reasons. It seems that if you want to remove/disable the immobilizer then a new ECU is needed. That leaves the crude solution of permanently attaching the transponder portion of the key as mentioned previously.

Yes, there are a number of small obstacles to making keyless work but they're all easily overcome with a few wiring mods - when you have someone like DEcosse to figure it all out. I'm OK with wiring and electrical mods so if I have to cut into the original harness to make connections then I will. However, I'd prefer not to do that so looking to make the whole setup plug-n-play as much as possible. That way others can adopt the same setup with minimal modification of OEM wiring.

The bad news for you Rymek is that I'm working on a US spec bike that doesn't have an immobilizer. One step at a time though; once I have a working setup for my bike then options to deal with the immobilizer will be just one more step.

My intention was to make keyless install a winter project but the research stage has pushed it up my priority list. Over the past few years I've really got used to the keyless system on my Triumph. It's so nice to step on the bike, pull in the clutch lever and hit the starter. I miss that.

Would be awesome to have it plug and play using the original wiring, but if not I would connect to original harness. I have very good mechanic that has a lot of experience with such mods so if anything else fails I could go to him and he would do it for me. But yeah, immobilizer is a problem, but like you said, one step at a time :)

An old thread but I want to follow up on my post above. I mentioned that I was working on a project to add keyless ignition to my H2 SX SE. That project is now complete. I posted details in a separate thread - Keyless Ignition fitted to my H2 SX SE
