I'm about the same weight as you, would you mind sharing your suspension settings?57x wrote: Sat Feb 09, 2019 3:17 pm You may want to check if you have enough spring after all. My suspension guy made a calculation error on rear sag for my bike. He said I needed more spring also. Our swingarm has a lot more travel than a normal sport bike. The ZX10R has 4.5" travel and the H2 SX has 5.5". With the understanding of the additional travel my bike had 1mm too little sag. Too much of a spring by a fraction so I left it. My rebound and compression were way off, mostly compression. A few tries and he got it perfect.

Re: Suspension adjustment
My bike is torn apart, ready to install the ZX10R header and flash from vcyclenut. I will take a look once I get that finished. I did not write down the settings.

Re: Suspension adjustment
Sasha, Thanks for asking the question, it seems to me that we owners are ALL in the situation, this bike is not adequately sprung. I'll be taking my bike to Washington Cycle Works next week where they will pull the spring, take its physical measurements so they can then order the right spring. I'll post the measurements when I get them. In addition I'll repost my weight and new spring info and perhaps I can get them to order a few in for the hope - lessly sprung SX owners.
Hello All, It's take awhile to get my suspension issues resolved. Here's an update, Ron at Washington Cycles, in Washington NJ (908 835 0043) hooked me up and was able to source a proper replacement spring. The final cost to me was near $400. Most of that was labor and shipping since several options were explored. The new spring about $90 and a CNC'd spacer a few bucks, yada yada... The good news is they now know exactly what it needs and you are the beneficiary of my investment. Someone needed to go first. The bike no longer feels like a sponge, no longer runs wide. Your situation will be different based on your skills, weight, and type of riding you do.
The baseline has now been established. In my opinion if you carry loaded bags and your weight is over 175. Give Ron a call.

Re: Suspension adjustment
Have those who are saying the spring is not suitable taken into account the extra rear travel that has been mentioned? Seems rather odd to me the bike would be shipped not being able to accommodated the quoted weight limits.

Re: Suspension adjustment
Normal sport bike travel front and rear is 120mm. Typical sag is 1/3, so 40mm sag.
H2 SX has 120mm front travel, and 139mm rear travel. 1/3 of 139 is 46.33mm, which is what you would be looking for. I am 200lbs in gear and I got 40mm sag front and 46mm sag rear with the preload all the way out on the rear. That is just .33mm too much spring in the rear. I'm fine with it.

Re: Suspension adjustment
I don't have a tuner anywhere near me, nor do I have anyone handy to do the measurements, so I recently picked up a Motool device to measure sag (https://motool.co) plus a Titan Bulldog wheel chock (https://www.redlinestands.com/catalog/h ... ock-p-2368). The chock is good, but I'm especially happy with the tool.
On the other hand, the rears on both bikes (the other is a '15 Kawi Versys 1k), needed a lot of preload. With the cases and gear mounted on my Versys, I was able to get to 1/3 sag with 11 clicks (of 24 total). On my H2, it took 22 clicks to get it to 46mm without the cases. (The Motool can't be mounted with the cases, so I mounted the right hand case and put 9 lbs 2 oz of extra weight in it.
I was surprised that the factory preload settings for the fronts were bang on for me on both bikes. I'm 6' 3" / 165 lbs.Champ87 wrote: Fri Jun 01, 2018 3:40 am ...You'd be surprised how often a manufacturers recommended settings actually work for regular street riding. They do spend millions designing, developing and testing - including hundreds of hours track and road time using experienced test riders....

57x, do you mean that the preload on the rear is all the way out and you're getting 46 mm sag in the rear?57x wrote: Fri Feb 22, 2019 4:58 pm Normal sport bike travel front and rear is 120mm. Typical sag is 1/3, so 40mm sag.

byebyebeemer, how did your tuning go? Did you get specs on the spring?byebyebeemer wrote: Thu Feb 21, 2019 6:46 pm ...I'll be taking my bike to Washington Cycle Works next week where they will pull the spring, take its physical measurements so they can then order the right spring. I might wonder about this. On the other hand, my Versys 1k has 149.9 mm rear travel vs. 139 mm for the H2, but the Versys only needed 11 clicks to provide 1/3 sag with the cases mounted. I know very little about moto suspensions, but it does seem that the H2 is undersprung in the rear.UNUZ3D wrote: Thu Feb 21, 2019 8:40 pm Have those who are saying the spring is not suitable taken into account the extra rear travel that has been mentioned?
