Hello from Wisconsin

Post by zedXmick » Sat Dec 16, 2017 8:56 pm

Hello all, looking forward to the release of this beast in the USA! Looking at the SE version. I was at the IMS show in Minneapolis last weekend, and was very impressed with the SE. My current ride is a VFR1200 DCT and can’t wait for the test ride on the SE to see if it will win a place in my garage. Owned two Kawi’s In the past. A 2001 zx6e and a 2010 C14....open to giving Kawasaki another shot at ownership. :D

Welcome to the site zed. Having owned two previous VFR generations I looked long and hard at the 1200 but it never gelled with me. How have you liked it?

I owned a 91 vfr from new back in the day also. I absolutely love my 1200 DCT. As a SPORT Tourer Honda hit it outa the park with the 1200. The glaring fault with it was that Honda detuned it in 1st and 2nd gear.....(not full power mode until +5000 rpm). A cpu flash takes care of that issue. I get 43 mpg when I use it on my commute to work. I rode it to Road America did a track day with it and rode it home again. My highest mile day was coming back home from deals gap,825 miles. The big v4 engine is a gem....plenty of grunt down low with a very nice top end rush....exactly what a street engine should be. I had my C14 for one ride season (+7000 miles ) and the VFR just blows that bike away. In the spring of 2015 I had that itch about testing the ZX14R....took a new 14R for a 2 hour test ride....went home with my VFR. The H2 SE will have to be one hell of a ride.....I think it will be! I haven’t been this excited about a new ride since 2012.

I owned a 2000 and 2002. I really wanted to like the 7th gen VFR and at the time I owned an FJR1300. I was vacillating between a K1300S and the VFR1200. In the end I got neither and made the mistake of getting a Multistrada.

Here's the interesting thing about the SX. I've overlayed the geometry of the SX and 2002 VFR and the ergonomics are almost exactly the same. I would still probably throw some nicely designed bar risers on it though.
