So here's my investigation results. This snapshot was from the Kawasaki ride in the mountains video. Speed is in Km/h.

3rd gear at 6,000 RPM (blurry, but 6K based on speedo markings posted earlier) shows 97 Km/h, which is equal to 60.3 MPH.

The spreadsheet shows 60.9 MPH in 3rd gear at 6,000 RPM. So to me looks like the spreadsheet is pretty accurate.

Yep, 6K is where I though it was when I did my analysis that says the speedo and tach match pretty closely to the info in the "Speed vs RPM vs Gear" spreadsheet.

Ok, so, I just came across this vid on youtube (for which I cannot seem to find the link atm..) of someone who claims to have attended the press release and the kawi reps said they tested the bike on the autobahn at over 300kmh with the saddlebags attached and stable..

Let's hope so, but since this stupid gentlemens agreement bikes aren't allowed to run faster than 300kmh and the speedo will indicate no more than 299...
Still fast enough for a tourer

I wonder if they said "Upto to 300kph"? and he was mistaken. Also they could have geared it differently to test the stability in a real world scenario. If its stable with the bags upto and over 300kph in theory it should be good under 300kmh.

Or it may have a higher top speed and get limited down to 300kph. :D

With the woolich software on the H2 I can disable the dash top speed limiter and actual limiter ,

hopefully ill be able to do the same with the hs2x

I just found this site. A friend of mine just bought a H2SE and I broke it in for him and we went riding on Sunday and he pulled 186mph on the speedo so I suppose it is limited by Kaw. I had checked the accuracy of the speedo when breaking it in and it was fast by 2mph at lower speeds and 4mph up to around 140mph so I can't be sure what it is if you are at 186mph.

Though the peak hp is severely restricted after ~10500 RPM, it still has enough to hit 180+. Top speed on the H2SX is limited purely due to gearing. change a sproket, derestrict the ECU and I bet it could hit 200.

First let me say I AM NOT A TROLL. I'm a big fan of high speed sport touring bikes, which is why I have a Motus. When I bough my bike, I spent time at the Barber Museum back and forth from the H2 to the Motus. Not sure I would have gotten the Motus if the SX existed at the time. The ZX was too big and the H2 just a bit too hard. The SX looks just right to me.

Regardless. I just did an official 163 in the standing mile with bags at the Texas Mile. Production trim, no mods except reinforcing the bags to ensure I didn't lose one at 150 plus mph. I look forward to being dethroned as the fastest production bagger ever recorded in the mile.

Also did an Iron Butt Saddlesore to the mile and rode the bike home to ATL.

Once again, post is meant in the spirit of a fellow enthusiast engaging is spirited high speed fun. Google "Mike's carbon Motus MSTR" for pics of my bike. It was also in the July/August Motorcyclist last year. Not a bike like mine, but my bike.

Can't wait to get a test hop on an SX.

EDIT: Sorry for an edit on first post. Does the SX have a speed restriction with bags? Motus is something like 80mph. Will be interesting to see the delta between bags on and off.

I really like the Motus, but the price always pushed me away, way more than an H2SX, and the non-existent dealer network where I live is just too risky for my checkbook. starting at $32,000 (i think) and the nearest dealer is about 400 miles away. Ooof!

The V4 looks and sounds killer though, I'm sure it's a fantastic bike.

The SX bags have a legal restriction on them, slapped on by lawyers in suits. i think it's 80 mph. tho Kawi has stated they've been tested at "autobahn speeds" and at least one person here has had them up to 150 mph, including passenger.
