Powerlet flush mount socket install
For anyone interested in powering devices on a rear seat pack or heated vest or easily plugging in a Battery Tender after every ride, I did a flush mount panel install on the right side. I like this look better than having another bracket hanging off the passenger peg bracket. So now I have front USB power and rear Powerlet power.

Don't order directly from them as they will charge you about $7 shipping. Order from Amazon if you are a Prime member.
I don't recommend mounting it on the forward section as it's fairly flimsy and flexible. The rear section is much better and it's more tucked away from view. Also the right side has significantly more room behind the panel than the left side of the bike.

Neat job. Good to see what others are doing.

It's amazing how fast you can go when you take your time.
Re: Powerlet flush mount socket install
Thanks for the post UFO. Useful info. Was thinking of doing exactly this as worked well for previous bike, especially since the standard SE cockpit socket is one-way (wont accept a charge) and is ignition related meaning can't charge from it unless ignition is left on.
As you say a direct socket there would be an ideal match for the switched front one

Exactly. It's ideal for plugging in my tender, the dash socket is not obviously. I've installed Powerlet sockets on my past 5 bikes. Cheap, easy, and very useful.

I finished installing the Powerlet socket today, in the same location as you. Thanks for sharing. Now to solve the battery charger.UFO wrote: Sat May 05, 2018 3:12 am For anyone interested in powering devices on a rear seat pack or heated vest or easily plugging in a Battery Tender after every ride, I did a flush mount panel install on the right side. Re: Powerlet flush mount socket install
Sorry, I completely missed this question.
I've been using a Battery Tender Plus (12V, 1.25A) for almost 15 years. Just keeps on ticking. This is the current model, it looks pretty much the same, but is probably slightly better since mine (I have 2) are old.

You just need a Powerlet to SAE adapter and you're good to go.

I swear by Battery Tenders. When I got rid of my Ducati this spring it had 7 years on the stock battery, as I kept it on the tender religiously. Still cranked that enormous 1200cc v-twin.

UFO, thanks for the battery tender info! I bought the Powerlet to SAE adaptor along when I got the socket. No to buy the tender.UFO wrote: Wed Nov 14, 2018 1:12 amSorry, I completely missed this question.
