Few days in Scotland

Post by biosed » Thu May 03, 2018 12:28 pm

So done a few days in Scotland. Got the first service done the day I left so I was able to open it up a bit, got a little carried away and annoyed a few other road users, wasn't my intention! :(

Scotland was lovely, weather was great.

Needed a new back tyre after 2192km, Only one the bike shop had was a BT-023, didn't notice much difference.
3429kms on the clock now!

That sounds very quick. Are we talking tread naturally worn out by 2192 kms here, or some other reason - perhaps some love-sick nails or maybe a secret addiction to burnouts ?

No, some spirited riding but nothing excessive. Was a little disappointed but but after a good ride it looked like a track day tyre, so maybe the OEM S21's are very soft.

That's less than I got out of mine by about half. Mine were all the way to the wear bar.

There might have been a little left but not much and we had another 1000kms of trip left. It was almost at the bar.

This is the tyre before changing, it looked a lot worse a few hours previous

That's kinda weird. I have 3k km at the moment on my bike, did 2100 since last monday, mostly on highways, but there was one day in the mountains and my tire has still more than 0,5cm of meat left on it. And i'm not really kind on the throttle both on highways and in the mountains.

Either asphalt in scotland is unkind (like in Norway, I remember I had to change tires when I got back from a 2 week trip after putting new set just before) or maybe you had low pressure or something?
