Check engine light
I guess this kind of post goes here. I am used to a technical sub-forum for such discussions. Mods please move this if I put it in the wrong place.
I have just under 1000 miles on my H2 SX SE. The engine warning indicator came on at the end of a 200 mile ride today. The bike went in to what I will call "limp mode", almost no power. I read something called "rain mode" on the standard H2 forum, so not sure if that is the same thing. Does anyone know how to get into diagnostics mode on the SE (different gauge than the standard SX, so not sure if it is different)? Again, on the standard H2 forums they say to push the up and down arrows for a few seconds after turning the key on (engine not running), but that does not work on my bike.
I was planning a 1000 mile ride early next week, but I can't go until I get this figured out.
I see many people having issues on the standard H2 with the cam position sensor, so not sure if that is what my problem is.

Sorry I don't have any advice for you my service manual hasn't arrived yet. But this might fit better in the mods and maintenance section.

Re: Check engine light
I can't help splve your problem but maybe a bit more information will help.
Of course, the obvious answer would be to take the bike to a Kawasaki dealer and have them read the code. Even if you read the code yourself, chances are you'll want them to fix the problem under warranty.
Yes, on the H2 the self diagnosis system has a dealer mode that can be initiated by holding the upper and lower display select buttons. Unfortunately, that doesn't work on the H2 SX SE as you discovered. I don't have a service manual yet but maybe someone who does can look and see how to access dealer mode of the self diagnosis system on our bikes. The problem then will be understanding the code - you will need the Service Manual to look up the service code that was displayed on the screen.57x wrote: Sun Apr 29, 2018 12:44 amon the standard H2 forums they say to push the up and down arrows for a few seconds after turning the key on (engine not running), but that does not work on my bike.

According to the H2 service manual, when the cam position sensor fails the bike will continue to run but will not restart once the engine is stopped. On the H2 the ECU sets limp home mode when parts associated with the ETV have malfunctioned. That information applies to the H2 but the H2 SX ECU may apply the same conditions and provide a clue to the source of the problem.57x wrote: Sun Apr 29, 2018 12:44 amI see many people having issues on the standard H2 with the cam position sensor, so not sure if that is what my problem is.
