Bags from EU arrived (no ugly reflector!)

Post by UFO » Wed Apr 18, 2018 9:19 pm

Admin update: this thread is over 3 years old. Make sure you do your due diligence when ordering bags from the EU. Make sure you're getting the correct part numbers, as things may have changed in those 3 years ... and of course prices show are probably different than they are today.

FYI, if you severely dislike the massive reflectors on the US bags like I do, I found a place in the Netherlands that shipped me new, OEM bags (reflector free!) for $634.52, including 2 day shipping. Yes, 2 goddamn days from the Netherlands.

Total: USD 599.53
Shipping: USD 34.99
Total: USD 634.52

It took a few days for them to get a set into their warehouse, then 2 days to me...for $200 less than US retail price (before shipping) US retail is $799.

Damn, down to $519! (Dec 2019)

Here's the official UK site to verify part number (999940922):

Much nicer without the reflectors.

I would really prefer that look.

I ordered the bags when I bought the bike several weeks ago...the bags arrived at the dealer, but they are still waiting on the color
trim kits with no ETA.

So, I haven't even seen the bags yet, still in boxes at the dealer...

How is the reflector attached? Glued or bolted?
Could it be removed without ugly marks?

Did you order the color trim kits from Europe also?
The order page lists them as available, but does not have a box to check to order those...

Trim from the dealer. Trim has been back ordered for almost everyone and are just now showing up. They fit EU and North American bags.

I only ordered the EU bags to avoid the reflector and the hole in the bag (they are bolted on for NA bags). Bags shipped from EU were much cheaper than my local dealer. Not sure how that works...

Thanks.
I just called my parts guy and he is checking with Kawasaki to see if the non-reflector bags can be ordered to the local Kawi shop here, but he did not think so.

Plenty of pictures in this forum: viewforum.php?f=13

or the picture below. Remove the reflector and you have a hole in your panniers.

Damn, ugly indeed. I imagined it's on the back of the case not the side 😁

Many thanks to UFO...I owe you a beer or three!

Since I was forever waiting on the green trim kits to arrive, I never took physical delivery of the USA panniers from my dealer and returned them.

I just ordered a pair of panniers from the website listed, without the ugly reflector...
AND
they are 10% off (all Kawasaki items) till the end of the month...
$518.33 shipped to my door..

Out of stock at the moment, but site says they are expected back in stock on 7-3-18

Wow, helluva price, and worth the short wait! I love my clean looking bags. Glad to help. Maybe I should have waited. Nahhhh.

You'll still need the mounting hardware. The bags don't come with them (unless you also ordered the hardware from the same place).

Here's an updated picture with panels (that I bought at my local dealer).
