My riding buddy uses that exact visual alert on all of his bikes and swears by it. When I ride his bikes I don't always see the alerts--maybe I would get used to it but I much prefer an audio alert through my earspeakers which also lets you know what type of radar is being used.

I have this the set up now. Just need to do a custom wire length. But it works well!

Thanks for the post! Is that an SAENG|TA mount? If so, how do you like it?

If I can get motivated, I'm going to try to mount my V1 in the false duct this winter. The thing that has me going is the discovery that the duct cover isn't part of the fairing. It's actually a separate $35 part. I think the V1 will fit without cutting the fairing itself. I caught a post by a BMW rider who waterproofed his V1 so he could mount it under a fairing (http://public.fotki.com/Rbertalotto/mot ... 0rs_radar/). I have a remote display for my V1, which I would mount above the TFT screen. For alerting, I'm thinking about this helmet mounted HUD type alerter: https://legalspeeding.com/HARD-System.htm.

On the downside, the V1 would be permanently waterproofed. I'd need to come up with a waterproof RJ11 connector so that the fairing could be removed for servicing. Plus, I might lose a good deal of rear/directional coverage. On the upside, I like sleek and tidy mounts. On all my cars, I've mounted my V1 up to the right of the rearview, and tucked the wiring into the headliner and pillar, with a remote display mounted under the speedo.

Any input would be appreciated while I'm sketching this out in my head.

I have been using the TPX Pro Radar/Laser detector from Adaptive Technologies. https://adaptivtech.com/ They have a pretty good setup with visual alert and accessories for mounting. I will post pics of my install tonight.

I used this system for a while before I put together a Bluetooth set up and it worked okay but the wire with the alert light broke off from the receiver that attaches to the back of the helmet--the connection is pretty flimsy and exposed to the elements.

I still prefer to hear audio from the radar detector through my Bluetooth set up to my ear speakers so I can tell immediately what type of radar is coming without looking at the detector display that lights alone don't give you (X band--ignore; K band--be cautious; Ka band--be very cautious).

I'm looking forward to seeing it done. I know some of the guys on the H2 forum have put it there. But I'm not sure if there are any write ups about how they did it. If you do it please take a lot of pictures to show how you mounted it, wired it in and routed the wires.

If you mount a V1 in the front part of fairing you eliminate its ability to track rearward radar ( you’ll be blocking rearward facing antennas )... and if your doing a 100+ mph in the daylight ,I don’t think you’ll be focusing on that visual alert😜

No Problem. It is by Techmount! I like it real well. It is rock solid and works perfect! I thought about going behind the fairing as well, with a remote type mount. I have a blue tooth transmitter. I have not tried it yet. But I was going to try linking it up to my com unit on my helmet from my detector, via blue tooth. Might work on that project this winter.
