Footpeg Swap

Post by kman0066 » Wed Apr 18, 2018 12:31 am

I had a pair of stock footpegs from a 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 300 laying around, so I tried them out on the H2 SX. They fit exactly the same. Same length, same spring setup, etc. I like the solid feel of the pegs and makes me feel more planted and not standing on squishy rubber. There is more felt vibration, same as any sportbike with solid pegs. Time will tell if that gets annoying or not, but easily reversible.

I'm going to guess that almost any Kawasaki peg will swap out as well, but your experience may vary.

Kman, seeing what you did here I wonder if Knight Design's Ninja 300 lowering pegs would also fit right up to these bikes? If so, that would be one of the easiest ergo fixes ever! 10 or 35mm drops.

If they are made to fit a 300, I don't see why they wouldn't work. Almost every Kawasaki uses the same peg setup, the 300 pegs just happened to be the ones I had laying around.

Thanks, Kman. That 300 peg has a much smaller profile, did you notice any added legroom after swapping? If so, can you ballpark that amount?

A very tiny bit of difference in leg-room. A couple millimeters maybe.

This is helpful in deciding which Knight Design lowering peg set to order, the 10 or 35mm. I want as much legroom as possible without making ground clearance a problem.

Another question: how long are the stock H2 peg feelers, when installed?

Someone else may have to answer that one. I threw mine in the trash the day I got the bike. Maybe an inch? If you need a good measurement, probably best to have someone else do that.

In the photo your H2 peg still has its pivot pin and spring in place. Were those parts not usable with the 300 pegs? I want to have all peg swap hardware in hand before my dealer floor "testing".

Same parts, could have used the originals, but I already had the ones for the 300 so just swapped it all.

I ordered a set of zx10r pegs. Hopefully they fit and arrive in time. I have a track day coming up in a little over a week.
