Lowering Kit - Don’t do it!!

Post by KiwiKodi » Sun Apr 08, 2018 5:49 pm

So yesterday I fitted the Lust Racing lowering brackets to the swing arm. Was a bit annoying as the Centre stand had to come off in order to remove the forward bolt. Lowered the front shocks 15mm. Out today and was more than happy with the height and ride. Was going to have to cut the side stand down a bit as the bikes sits near vertical which doesn’t help when mounting. Plus the Centre stand is a little more difficult to get down.

Anyway, I’m putting it back and will practice my pointy toes - maybe take up ballet. Issue is with ground clearance. The exhaust cat bottoms out when going over the smallest of ‘lumps’ ie driveways or dropped curbs. Can’t even get it on the bike ramp without it scrapping on the way on. Tighten rebound to the hardest setting. No joy at all.

Anyone want to buy some hardly used lowering links :bash: Lol

Do you have the lower seat option for your bike? That might help as well

Not seen one as yet for the SE. I might be wrong though.

I ordered the lower seat with the bike and I like it. It came in when the bike did. With a 29" inseam I'm very comfortable with that seat and have no desire to lower it.

With the lower seat, are you able to flat foot? Get the center stand up? Thanks!

I’m not perfectly flat foot but close enough to feel comfortable and confident. Well worth it.

how did you lower the front? did you drop it from the forks? it will be nice to lower and try the lower front the bike should turn faster.

Sorry 89 speedy I didn't see that you posed a question. No, I'm not flat footed but just shy of it. The ease of getting it on the centerstand is only effected by lowering the bike. This bike is extremely easy to put on the centerstand. One does not have to be flat footed to safely ride a motorcycle. I am very comfortable on the balls of my feet and tour with my FJR1300 with a topcase making it more "tippy" . It is only if you are used to riding cruisers that not being flat footed can be unnerving. Never cared for cruisers. The only bike I am flat footed on is my BMW K1600B with factory low seat. Daytona M Star boots have a thicker sole and higher heel which helps and they don't look like something you stole off a member of Kiss (the band who performed in makeup and platform shoes for the rock illiterates if any are out there).

Drop it through the triple clamps. Wrap tape around the lower point so you don’t go past it. It’s tight even when they are all loosened. I’ve PM’d you.

What is the max you should go? My rear has been lowered a bit and I have the sgt seat option. I only want a min. drop in the front so the bike sits at a better angle. Pm me or email info zl1booker@gmail.com please sir. Thanks
