my impression after 200 miles

Post by vcyclenut » Sun Apr 01, 2018 2:19 pm

I did 200 miles yesterday, some in rain mostly 2 up , in traffic and on some florida back roads

biggest compliment I can give is my biggest impression is not the motor, which is pretty damn amazing on its on, but its how well this bike was thought out and how nice it is

As cooter said, its balance even at low speeds is remarkable, 2 up in the rain at parking lot speeds first day on the bike and I'm doing both feet up u turns in a small space. This was with the bags on.

went two up through some high speed sweeper, rock steady easy to correct your line, neutral steering, very nice

bags fit a full face helmet and close fully

dash is amazing!!, intuitive!!! and complete. I like sport mode 2 for now in black. We will need to have a max lean competition with pictures of the dash to prove it!!!

I went through a couple switch backs and I could feel the added weight over my panigale in side to side transitions. But duh of coarse I would

2 up with the bags did a roll from 40-150 to see how my girl felt with it accelerating hard and it pulled right to 150. She said she feels very planted on the bike and was comfortable with no sensation she was going to slide off

brakes are really good, nice feel and progressive

quick shifter and auto blipper are also very good. Occasional jump on the 1-2 when up shifting. And down shifting there is like a double notch feeling but the actual shift and rev match are excellent

Kawasaki did a great job with the engine braking. Stock setting is very nice and the reduced mode takes the edge off it even more.

I never took the bike out of full power mode. If you cant control and modulate that full power throttle you should not be on a bike of this caliper. It has a nice soft intial smooth application from closed. Much better then any other fly by wire bike ive ridden stock. Unlike cooter I did feel like I could feel the restrcions in the throttle. I got the impression it pulls harder with a small flick of the throttle then grabbing a handful. I cant say 100% its not pulling as hard , it may be just my perception because I'm twisting more and not really getting more pull.

With the flash I'm thinking a throttle that is the same intial but more linear as you get into it would be spot on for 75% of riding conditions.

suspension feels amazing did not touch it all day.

only couple small gripes..

cant change power mode or tc mode unless stopped. that's just plain dumb and something I am hoping to be able to fix with the flash
cant set cruise control over 85 mph, wtf, again hoping the flash will fix this

over all i will say this is the nicest most complet, well though out motorcycle ive ever owned!!! zero buyers remorse i can not wait to see what she is like when i start to play with the programming!!!!

everyone waititng for yours it is worth the wait!!

I was told the cruise control can be set up to 200km.
I always keep my setting at F1 because when the bike was delivered, the shop had set it at L3 and it really felt weird so I changed it the next day to F1 and kept it there ever since even during break in period.
My left lean angle is 49, right is 47 I think. I'll take a pic tomorrow. I'm afraid to lean further on the right side because it keep scraping the right foot peg.

OK here is the pic

My feeling of the throttle position was based on just a full throttle sprint through 4th. As the bike accelerated i didn't notice that it was giving less throttle as the rpms climbed into the upper range. I never really tried to compare it. Basically I was saying its making a lot of power even with the throttle bodies closing and its hard to believe it's being restricted there.

for sure it still pulls amazingly hard for the throttle being closed as it is!!

another couple things to comment on after another ride today

the bike does not down shift as smooth with EBC on, you can feel the engine braking is less but the shift itself it is almost like it is over revving it a bit on the downshift and the front end jumps a bit.

I went back and forth a few times and its deff noticeable. I did a blind which mode test with my girl on the back and she noted the same thing

the motor is so smooth, it gives the impression its barely working.

a little crack of the throttle when cruising and the bike accelerates really nice even two up, very impressive

again after my ride today very impressed with the handling of the bike!!

No, afraid to do that also at the moment lol
When I fully get used to the bike, I plan to remove those annoying things

Proper riding position and technique = less lean angle.
