First service, 1k

Post by Pioneer » Fri Mar 30, 2018 3:51 am

Going in Tuesday for 1k service, going great so far. A lot different from my last scooter, a S1000XR BMW. Much heavier in the front end but am nearly used to it now and starting too trust it in the corners. Only put it in the fast setting a few days ago and am certainly happy with the power difference. Still a few klm to do running in.

Just finished 1k service.
- Oil change: the engine needs 5L oil!!
- Oil filter: is very short, not much filter surface compared to smaller bikes which have longer filters.
- Mechanic connected bike via diagnostic port to computer and ran engine, revved a bit up/down to check some values there.
Total cost: 80USD :)

Next on my TO-DO list, finishing 1600km :)

They used too much oil. Shouldn't be more than 4.7liter

Tomorrow I can finally start breaking in mine :)

1000km inspection is free in Japan. They checked everything including removing the supercharger plate and inspecting the impeller to make sure it was functioning correctly. All I paid was for the labor for oil change and oil filter, cuz I bought the good green oil that Kawasaki/elf offers when I bought the bike.

Might have been 4.7L. Just saw 5 bottles. That’s all

Not all shops inspect supercharger in Japan, I think some mechanics go to Kawasaki's training sight to learn the know how of the supercharger maintenance

I don't think it get's any adjustment, but it does need inspection, and then replacement if found bad. I'm guessing they just check end-play and look at the blades to ensure there is no damage.
