Like the site. Obviously a bit light on content due to the fact that we are a fairly unique (and lucky) bunch right now. Picked up some good info already. General atmosphere is very friendly (as it should be amongst a group with such a common interest).
I would like the option to receive email notification when I receive a PM when not online. Maybe it's there and I'm just not seeing it.

- Click on your username in the upper right
- User Control Panel
- Board preferences tab
- Edit notification options (on left)
Or click this to get there:
ucp.php?i=ucp_notifications&mode=notification_options
Check box "EMAIL" for "Someone sends you a private message" (near bottom of list)

I don't often send Private Message but when I have I noticed they sit in the Outbox for a long time. I sent a PM earlier today - 10 hours later it still sits in the Outbox. This has happened before. Even though it displays a sent time it leaves me wondering why they don't move to the Sent folder as soon as they've gone - if they have actually gone to the recipient.
Edit 8/10: and here we are 3 days later and my message still sits in the Outbox.
Edit 8/15: Message has finally moved to Sent folder. That's got me wondering if it sits in Outbox until read.

Champ87, Though your post is old by now, send me one, and we can sync up a 'read' time and see what happens.

We figured this one out in the end. When sending a PM it will sit in the Outbox until it gets read. With that in mind, the "read" time will depend very much on the individuals.
Also, getting email notification to say you have a PM is optional - in fact getting any notification at all is also optional. In that case, certain members will only discover they have a PM when they log in and others may only discover when they actually go into Private messages.
For anyone wanting to check and/or change those settings, they can be found under User Control Panel>Board preferences>Edit notification options.

Admin,
Thanks so much for setting this up and managing it. All works very well for me with one exception. I have not been able to attach PDF files to posts. I have had to zip my PDF's in order to attach them, which creates more hassle and security risk for members. Would it be possible to enable PDF files as acceptable attachments, or am I missing something?

Not saying zips containing PDFs are any better, but PDFs in an of themselves are not secure at all.

It is a bit curious as to why they are blocked.
Not that I have any better format to put forward.

You should be able to attach PDFs now.
