Forum Feedback

Post by H2SXadmin » Wed Mar 14, 2018 3:50 am

Now that we've have some activity, some post action, and people have been attaching/linking pictures, etc...I think I've finalized the forum.

But I would still like to hear feedback if you have it.
  • How does the forum look?
  • Is it easy to read/use?
  • Is there any functionality you think is missing or should be added (within reason)?
  • Has anyone noticed any oddities?
Thanks.

I suggest a "like" option to show interest or concurrence on someone's post. I can certainly live without it, and have noticed myself wanting to find that option. Like the site, thank you very much!

The forum is OK, it's working fine. I don't miss anything. Look&Feel of the site also very good.
Like it and provides good information.

I like the forum too. Thx very much :)
Two small things I'd like to see:
- no confirmation when marking the forum/threads as read. Saves a click ;)
- links in posts open in a new tab. Now I always leave the forum. I know you can right click, but I always forget...

Is there a way to see the last X amount of New Posts? Would like to see all the latest posts without having to go through each individual forum to see them.

With regards to seeing/managing new posts, way upper left Quick Links menu. Click to drop it down and there are several options for different ways to view New posts, Your posts, Unread posts, Active posts (ones with >20 replies), etc. Very handy for sorting different kinds of posts.

Also, in the upper right on the main forum list there's a "Mark forums read" link (or "Mark topics read" within a form). This essentially zeroes out the board and everything will be marked as read (all forum icons will be grey).

Finally, if the board is acting strangely you can click the "Delete all board cookies" at the bottom right. This will log you out and deleting form history, requiring you to log back in.

Yep, I use that all the time. Can go to all new posts.

That's the only complaint I have ... don't know if it's a setting in your "User Control Panel" or not, will go look and see I guess. I just remember to do a right click "open new tab" for now. On other boards using Firefox will open a link in a new tab as that's what I have Firefox setup to do.

Done. Links to external sites in posts now open in a new tab.

I found an extension that allows you to track post Likes (and how many likes you've given and received in your profile). But I would have to modify it some as it uses hearts, which I'm not a fan of. I'll leave it active for a day or two to see how people like the functionality (ignore the heart icons, I can modify them to something that better suits the forum).
