Tentative how to block off PAIR system for cheap

Post by cOoTeR » Wed Mar 07, 2018 6:02 am

First off why.
1. It is needed to get accurate Air/Fuel readings on the dyno because the PAIR system pumps air into the exhaust.

2. Reduces popping on decel with aftermarket exhaust.

3. Easier access to spark plugs after removal.

4. Some people claim the engine deceleration/braking is smoother.

DISCLAIMER! DO YOU YOU OWN RESEARCH AND DO THIS TO YOUR BIKE AT YOUR OWN RISK. FOR OFF ROAD USE ONLY! MIGHT NOT BE LEGAL. DON'T TRY TO HOLD ME RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS.

This is going to be a basic go by assuming you are mechanically inclined. If not take it to someone who is. (If they don't know Pairs removal they aren't mechanically inclined enough to mess with your bike).

On top of your valve cover there are 2 hoses going to a solenoid/valve in the middle. You can bridge the 2 with a piece of hose from the system and zip tie it on. Block off the airbox hole leading down to the solenoid/valve.

Find a way to secure the solenoid and leave it plugged in. Otherwise you will be getting flash codes until it is cleared or the ECU is flashed.

Nice job!!

I have in the past used a pair valve with the solenoid removed and used it to apply vacuum to the crankcase. picked up a few hp

There are companies that sell the block off kits as well that look cleaner, lighten the bike by about 11oz and you don't need to worry about the hose getting damaged and leaking air. But with these kits you still need the fault code that will be created if the bike doesn't have the valve connected flashed out. The kits run about $50.

If it's just for the Dyno, you can simply pinch off the hose with a clamp for the run. But I'll do the block off plates myself.

That's if you can get to it without removing the tank and airbox. Otherwise they might charge labor to have to go digging around to get to it. I'm planning on doing the block off plates as well abs it looks like the ones that are out for the H2 should fit. But the valve will still need to be left plugged in until tuners can figure out how to block the error code that shows from un plugging it.

Ah. Unless they've changed something with this bike, you can fake the valve with a resistor. Take the valve off, measure the resistance across the 2 pins on the valve itself to get the proper size. Then find yourself a resistor for probably .20 cents in the proper Ohms and push it into the open connector, tape it up to keep it in. Make sure to get a decent sized resistor, not those 1/4 watt cheapos at Radio Shack. Needs to handle a little current. 1 watt should do it or 2 1/2 watt resistors.

An alternative for those who don't need or want a ECU tune buy want to get rid of the valve without an error code.

I called don gual motors he's going to do my ecu flash. I'll have a custom made exhaust I'm going to take to the Dyno near my house and do the fuel mapping and tune

I also spoke to Don, he says he will work on the H2 SX ECU as soon as he gets his hands on it :)
