I don't know how Kawasaki assigns Vin numbers, but worldwide production is gonna be in thousands. They are producing somewhere between 600-700 SX/SX SE for model year 2018 just for the Japanese market.
I guess they started building units for international customers first
Thousands?? I could of have sworn I read that 800 units will be produces worldwide in 2018 =/ .. ide have to find the link to that

That may have been something lost in translation. Or maybe it was 800 just for Japan (which seems high just for Japan).

Just got a text from my dealer that my bike was released from shipping today, and is either in or on the way to Kawi's warehouse. Then it will be released and shipped to him. I placed my deposit on Nov 8th.

Bikes are arriving in the U.S.
Okay, update for people waiting in the U.S. I'm told my bike might be at the dealer Tuesday (but almost certainly next week). Seattle area.

They should be moving across the country soon. :D

I believe the statement of 800 units for both trims was the estimate for domestic sale in Japan. Dealer I spoke to told me that number shrunk to 400 units of SEs and 200 units of Standards for 2018 model. That's only 50 units a month for both trims.
I'm not sure of the international figures, I'll call Kawasaki on Monday and will try to verify it.

I do read Japanese and I have read that article.
It says they are building 800 units for both trims, but I'm sure that article was meant for Japanese customers.
That's why I plan to call Kawasaki Japan on Monday to verify. I will pass the info once I have it

Got my Vin number today and my California special non 49 state emissions bike will be here next week. Serious note i'm kind of worried my bike is going to be lower powered then everyone else because of all the emissions stuff for California.

I doubt it. It's just some evaporative plumbing and I think PAIR valves, adding some weight. You might be able to rip it all off and still pass emissions testing, if you have it where you live.

CA bikes have a different ECU and wire harness. I live in AZ where it is common for CA bikes to be sold so I did a lot of digging through the parts diagrams. I ended up calling my dealer and requesting a non CA bike mainly because of the ECU and wire harness being different.

All the bikes have the PAIR system.

There's a motorcycle show in Tokyo now so I decided to attend so I can verify the information regarding the production number and also to check out the ladies wearing manufacturer's uniform xD
First thing I did was to walk over to Kawasaki booth and ask them about the numbers but to my surprise, they were being tight lipped about it. The floor manager looked puzzled when I mentioned about the 800 units being produced for 2018, so I showed him the link that you guys dug up online and he told me that number is for domestic market. He didn't look too sure so I asked him again to make sure they weren't production numbers for worldwide market. Then he tells me that he has no idea what the figure is for international market because Kawasaki Motors Japan is separate company from other countries Kawasaki. It looked to me like he was hiding something, as if he was told by his boss not to leak the information for some reason. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Look at all the people swarming around the SX SE, it made me proud to own one.
They didn't even allow people to sit on it as it was turning on platform
