New tyres and traction control problem

Post by spazbecker » Fri Jan 10, 2020 12:50 pm

Just changed a 190/55/17 for a 190/50/17 and straight away I have the traction control light flashing. The tyres were professionally fitted and I went back and they checked sensors etc and all good.

So it must be the slightly different tyre size then? any views on this?

yes the 50 is a smaller diameter tire so it is spinning faster then the 55 would so the ECU thinks its spinning faster then it is, in other words it thinks your doing a burnout

Why put an inferior tyre on...lower sidewall, less grip in corners

Last year on my trip to TX from the east coast for Moto GP I caught a nail along the way and had to get a new rear tire in Tennessee and the only performance tire the dealer there had was a Dunlop that was a 190/50 and I've had no such issues.

My bike is Flashed with 19t front sprocket, I don't know if this makes any difference.
