Heated grip temperatures

Post by Prof J » Sun Oct 20, 2019 5:02 am

Wondering if there are real, or notable/significant heated grip temperatures between stock, Oxford, Avon, Kosos, what ever the brand.

Please, if you have a non-stock heated grip, and have a temp gage/in-farad temp gage, please post up the following, in a non-driving mode (standing still), hopefully in a garage:

1. grip on for 3 minutes, lowest setting, report grip temp and garage/outside temp
2. grip on for 3 minutes, highest setting, report grip temp and garage/outside temp

OEM: ambient temp 46F

Post 3 minutes on high: Left grip 85-88, most spots, a few at 56 Right grip 85-91 most spots, a few were low 70's

I can not say this is the warmest the grips become. This as the peak of three minutes.

i find that the temp alters whilst riding probably depending on the amount of charge the battery is taking whilst riding , also the right grip is warmer than the left grip due to the throttle insert

I noticed that to. Found they get alot hotter if my rpms are higher which would produce more volts.

I have hot grips on my ninja 1000. Ambient air temp in the garage at 55. Left grip was 80 and 75 towards the ends, and right was 73 all the way across on high after 3 minutes

The "OEM's" on my Versys 1k are Oxfords. They put out a ton of heat, much, much more than the grips on my SX SE. Plus, they have 7 settings (since now we're counting off as a setting).

They take longer than 3 minutes. I had them on high in 35 degrees temps at 50 mph wearing heavy winter gloves and had to turn them down after about ten minutes.
