Help with Rear Stand

Post by CoolDaddyGroove » Sun Sep 29, 2019 9:17 pm

So because I like to do things differently than most people (its a flaw, I know) I wanted to try a single sided dolly stand that allowed me to basically spin my bike around in my small garage. Ordered up a stand from Constands in Germany, and after it arrived I realize the axle pin they sent me was for an 2018 H2, not an H2SX. Despite my request for them to send me the right size pin, they just gave me a full refund including my shipping costs and told me to keep it. They are very pleasant people to deal with. So, with a little help from the forum members here and some calipers, I determined I needed to turn down the pin to 21mm with a length of 8 1/2". $20 to my local machinist, and victory, right? Nope.......

There is no way I can get the pin to align with the axle because the stand on the right side of the bike interferes with the tire. At first I'm thinking "Maybe the pin doesn't need to be 8 1/2" long, maybe it doesn't need to run the full length of the axle in order to support the bike", so before I cut down the pin, I thought, maybe the stand just isn't wide enough? The stand comes in basically two pieces, the first being a standard stand with wheels, and the second being the dolly part with castors. Remove the wheels from the stand stand, attach to dolly, and you have a dolly stand. Even if I removed the "stand" from the dolly, and replace the double wheels on the stand, it really would not be any narrower.

As it stands now, the distance between the theoretical wheels is 15 1/2". Can anyone tell me if the distance between the wheels of their stands is wider than that?

What if you tilt the stand forward when inserting the pin? Won´t you be able to fit it then?

This may be a silly suggestion but your description and photos beg the question. When you lift the handle on the rear then pin move forward (and down) which will put it in front of the dolly. This should allow you to insert the pin then push down on the handle which will lift the bike and pull it back over the dolly?

Also .. does the pin slide to the left (looking from the rear) or os it fixed?

Why wouldn't they send you the correct pin? They had to know the H2 pin wouldn't fit. While it's nice they refunded your money and let you keep the stand but all you have is a big cumbersome paper weight sitting in your garage without the correct pin.
