Average MPG display
My "Average MPG" display seems to update almost as often as the "Instant MPG" display. I would think after a reset that the MPG would stabilize and not update so rapidly. Anyone else noticing this? It seems to give the average of the last few minutes versus the average since the last reset.
Maybe I am misunderstanding the usage of this display....

Re: Average MPG display
I'll be interested in the answers to this. The manual is pretty confusing on this topic and the average MPG display's behavior while riding has always puzzled me further.
From the manual...
"Average Mileage: This display shows the average rate of fuel consumption since it was reset. It is renewed every 5 seconds."
"Current Mileage. This display shows the instantaneous rate of fuel consumption. It is renewed every 4 seconds."

Me too. Wondered about this but never got around to posing the question.

Re: Average MPG display
After reset, and given some 'mileage' after the reset, my 'average' mpg is fairly relaxed/slow to update.terrordbn wrote: Tue Sep 17, 2019 2:10 pm My "Average MPG" display seems to update almost as often as the "Instant MPG" display. Well, not completely useless. When on a long trip, it helps you gauge range and cruising efficiency. An accurate reading over a longer period of time would be helpful. But in the end... Not useless at all. Avg fuel economy helps you gauge requires fuel stops/cost on long tripsCoolDaddyGroove wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2019 2:49 pm Who cares? Useless information, as is boost temp and %.............
Boost % and temp allows you to see how the bike is running when beating on it. Saw my temps to get 100*c on the track. Dont want to risk damage to the engine so i backed off. Could have fried the motor if i kept ousbing hard.
Also if these things dramatically change, can be a sign something is wrong with the bike which may not trigger a CEL.

Re: Average MPG display
How exactly do you use average fuel consumption to estimate range? The bike has a "range" gauge, and even that is suspectterrordbn wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2019 3:45 pmWell, not completely useless. My bike avg. is 4.6L/100kms. Bike holds 19 litres of fuel. Therefor my bike will get just over 400kms worth of fuel.
Can also use it to determine how much money in fuel you will spend on a trip.
My truck avg. 11L/100kms. Did a trip from edmonton to las vegas which was 2400kms.
Thats 264L of fuel required. Avg gas price at the time was 1.15/litre. Which equals to approx $303.60 one way.

Don't forget the "eco-mode" idiot light. I don't think I'll ever tire of chuckling about the irony of it......CoolDaddyGroove wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2019 2:49 pm Who cares? Useless information, as is boost temp and %.............
