Clearwater Darla lights on SX SE

Post by Gordo » Wed Sep 11, 2019 9:10 pm

Now that the days are getting shorter I felt it was time to install the Clearwater Darla lights on SX SE. I have had clearwater lights on all of my touring bikes and love them. They have a high beam feature when the high beam is activated the Darla lights kick on at 100% (really bright!). During the day I have the lights adjusted to 35% output so I don't blind any oncoming traffic. I always notice that oncoming traffic are much more aware of my presence. The lights blend in with the front end of the SX as is mostly black.

It was pretty easy installing them and the wiring was pretty easy once I figured out what I was looking for. There is a dust boot with the headlight connector that carries the low beam signal ( red/ yellow) and the High beam signal (red/black). This is located behind the left lower fairing up against the intake air duct by for the super charger. I mounted the Darla control knob in the inner upper fairing. Still have to run wires to the battery for the relay which is mounted behind the Darla control knob. The High beam feature functions just as it should.

Hey There I have them on mine too and they turn night into day, I also have the yellow lens covers to use them as fog lights. Best set of lights ever, I am going to to get the kit for my 1999 Hayabusa too.

Have a link with the lights particulars? Seems very good sense to me.

Thanks.

Here is the set I have on my 2018 Kawasaki H2 SX SE pictured above - https://www.clearwaterlights.com/produc ... saki-ninja I also got the yellow colored lens covers to run them as fog lights when I need them - https://www.clearwaterlights.com/collec ... -on-covers. They are pricey but, well worth it. I am getting a set for my 1999 Hayabusa. On the H2 SX SE have them installed by a pro due to the canbus controller on the H2 it can be kind of tricky, this is well worth the cost too.

Shouldn't be any canbus issues if you you power right off the battery and only use the low/high beams wires for trigger signals.

Justin you are correct. That is the Prefered way to wire them up. The guy I bought the bike from had about 2 feet of excess wire coiled up under the set so I had to get it all sorted out. Thanks for pointing that out.

The new bikes have a canbus controller you need to be careful with when wiring up anything electronic or aftermarket on your bike.
