Burning a little oil out the exhaust on start up?

Post by Prof J » Sun Sep 08, 2019 2:18 am

Anyone burning a little oil out the exhaust on start up? I've got about 1400 miles now, and I don't like the oil burn. I do not think it 'common'/normal.

I don't know what karma my bike did to get me, but it must'a been something really bad!

I haven't noticed it on mine but I have noticed how my oil you get in the airbox from the crank case breather. If you are overfilled at all it would be worse.

Ive been trying to figure out how to make a catch can set up for the bike but as of yet short of major fabrication work I can not come up with any

Mine doesn’t burn any oil at startup, there’s no visible smoke at all, is there oil in your air intake/air filter housing? This could make your bike smoke, other than that it might be something more serious.

I ordered another drain bottle and hose and replaced the tiny pinched piece of tube, this allows any blow by to be collected and not burnt.. I just check both bottles periodically.

David, thanks, yes I checked the airbox. Pretty clean.

I'm wondering if after the oil change, if tipping, while not running, too much to the side might have caused it. No issue this week.

I would certainly report this to your dealer , just in case you have a problem later on , at least at has then been reported ,
