For folks running a flash, would you please share the miles you have under the flash, at what mileage you flashed, and specs on the flash?

Re: For folks running a flash ...
I have had 3 dyno tunes on my bike. 1 at about 1,000 miles. Then the next 2 shortly after the vandemon exhaust was released can't remember the mileage. The details on the tunes are listed below in my signature. I run the bike hard. Several passes on the 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile, a few hundred miles on the road course, a bunch of top end runs and a lot of spirited road miles. My bike has around 9,500 miles on it.

Re: For folks running a flash ...
2018 SX SE
Vcyclenut flash
Lambda disabled
Exhaust servo disabled
KLEEN air system disabled with block-off plates
Redline 13 000
Stock gearing
Vandemon full line with H2R cans
Turbosmart BOV
Motul 300V racing oil.
First owner. OEM break-in procedure followed closely.
Reflash done at 11800 mi.
I am now at 21000 mi.
I typically ride the bike medium-hard, with occasional drag-racing nights where I do pull on average 20-25 1/4 mile runs in 3-4 hours.

Re: For folks running a flash ...
My original bike was flashed at a 1000 miles and was totalled at 2433. The replacement bike was acquired in Nov. 2018 and was not ridden due to my recovering from injuries and northeast weather until April. I had an ECU reflashed without rev extend and stock air filter with Vandemon full exhaust and big muffler. I wanted to take advantage of winter downtime so I put the reflash on the new bike with 1 mile on it. Both bikes were broken in the same way. Rides limited to about 100 miles, with increased rpm after every thermal cycle and of course constant rpm variation. I personally feel that the factory break-in suggestion is written more for liability and ease of consumer understanding than it is for optimal engine life and performance. Nowhere is thermal cycling mentioned, and anyone who has studied aircraft engine break in, automotive engineering or metallurgy would be conscious of it. An example would be to take a brand new piston and one out of a bike that has seen thousands of miles with multiple thermal cycles and put them both in an oven at 500 degrees for half an hour, the old piston will look like you did when you put it in and the new piston will be warped and destroyed. The reason is that the heat cycles unlock the internal stresses and allows the molecules of the metal to rearrange. Other parts also become dimensionally stable after multiple heat cycles. Any race engine builders out there remember looking for "seasoned" blocks to build their race engine with? Getting back to the bikes, first oil change at 300 miles, 2nd at 1000, and the next at 2000 where I then switch to a full synthetic. Present H2 is just shy of 2000 miles and runs great. I also run a Filtermag and cut open my oil filters after the first two oil changes. Just my two cents on the topic.

JR919, interesting info. Would you detail "every thermal cycle" (ea 100 mile ride?)FJR919 wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2019 8:27 pm

Re: For folks running a flash ...
I'd appreciate the same, as I may be breaking in a new engine next season.Prof J wrote: Mon Sep 02, 2019 12:01 amJR919, interesting info. Would you detail "every thermal cycle" (ea 100 mile ride?)FJR919 wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2019 8:27 pm
