Welding on bike safe, or no

Post by Prof J » Sun Aug 25, 2019 6:57 am

Typically I try and weld directly on my bikes, when feasible. I've always disconnected the battery and the ECU. That may be old school.

Anyone have methods they use to keep the bikes electric systems safe while welding? Is it necessary to disconnect the battery and or ECU?

it doesn't hurt to disconnect the battery and ECU. The most important thing is getting a good ground close to where you're working. Electricity will follow the path of least resistance to ground.
