Re: brake upgrade
Awesome, thanks. Any recommendations on rotors? I like to chain my pads and rotors at the same time.

Re: brake upgrade
I contacted Galfer as I have their rotors/pads on my 1290 SDR. I also used them on my Connie when a few years back. For now they don't offer anything, but if enough of us bother them???

Re: brake upgrade
I'd like to switch to the EBC sintered double H for the '19 plus, but it seems they are not being made by EBC at this time. Will patiently wait.

Re: brake upgrade
For future reference the EBC front pads are part # FA379HH
I have mine sitting in the cupboard waiting for me to find the time to fit them. The first thing I do to any bike is to upgrade the pads. I also upgrade my brake fluid to DOT 5.1 at the same time. DOT 5.1 fluid is glycol based and compatible with DOT 4 so no concerns about mixing. DOT 5.0 is silicone based and not compatible!
On my ZX12 (six piston tokico calipers) after I fitted HH pads I could heat my brakes up enough to cause fade so I upgraded to 5.1 fluid and never had a problem again. I *think* (seat of pants opinion here) sintered pads transfer more heat back into the calliper and cause fade more easily under repeated hard braking than organic pads.

Re: brake upgrade
I might try rbf600. Used it in my Mitsubishi EvoX at the track after the oem fluid boiled and i lost my brakes. Never had an issue after swapping it out. Only issue is, it breaks down faster so gotta change it more frequently.Racer-X wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 3:39 pmFor future reference the EBC front pads are part # FA379HH

Re: brake upgrade
ProfJ - I would check again on that. EBC list Part # EPFA447HH sintered pads for the H2R. They should be the same as your SE+

It's amazing how fast you can go when you take your time.
Re: brake upgrade
Note the "EP" in EPFA is the Extreme Performance series ... spirited road riding or track day use. The normal street use sintered pads just start with FA###HH so you should be able to find the above pads as part # FA447HH.

Re: brake upgrade
I installed Ferodo ZRAC pads and dot 5.1 brake fluid but I never had a chance to try the bike due to weather. On my zx14 when I installed braketech rotors these were the pads they recommended and that setup worked very good so I figured I’d give them a try on this bike.
For some reason I’m pretty hard on rotors. I have warped rotors on almost every bike I’ve owned, bought wave rotors and race rotors and warped them too. The only rotors I didn’t wreck were braketech rotors with ferodo pads.
Here’s a few pics of the pads.

Here’s a link with some more info on the pads.

Here’s where I bought them.

Do you change rotors and pads at the same time or change pads but reuse the rotors?

Re: brake upgrade
If I spend the money on a new set of rotors I usually install a new set of pads. Otherwise I only replace rotors if they’re warped.
